probably not an urban legend, but when i was little, i was told (and believed) that if you record footage form your system to a VCR, the recorded data would be lost from the game forever.

Pikablu! Back in 1999.
What is it with Pokemon and fakes?!

The Pokemon ones with Pikablu and Mew definitely got me. I also remember trying to get Lara Croft naked... I'm not proud of that one.

I did the requirements to fight Sheng Long in SF2... That was the most time I've ever wasted on a game. There's a special place in hell for those EGM writers.

Oh yeah, every game I rented or bought back then went into Sonic and Knuckles before anything else. I always thought one game had to contain an incredible secret. Of course it was always just another blue sphere level.Crabmaster2000 wrote:5. Sonic & Knuckles - A friend and I rented a ton of games to insert into the top of this cart to try and unlock some sort of secret game. I dont even think we played most of the games we rented because we were so focused on finding that perfect cart that would let us get a new Sonic game to play.

I'm only 20 but I remember when I was first starting high school one of my friends thought there was this door in Halo 2 that was supposed to be the gates to hell, another thing was in Halo 3 there was supposed to be a recon skull hidden on the last level, I spent so much time trying to find it. There was even a spot where you could get out of the level where there was supposed to be a hidden area with the skull and I looked all over for it.

It's because so many of the fans were kids. Kids are jerks.Haoie wrote:Pikablu! Back in 1999.
