A horror game you play with your eyes closed

BlindSide was just released this week, and it's a really great concept. You and your girlfriend have just woken up to find out that you are now blind. Worse yet, there are horrifying creatures that have swarmed in on your apartment complex and they want to eat your flesh.

The entire game is played with audio. You need to use headphones and the game can simulate surround sound. The game has the controls of a first person adventure game like Amnesia: The Dark Descent, but BlindSide has no visuals and is best played with your eyes closed to both simulate the experience of running blind, but also to allow you to focus on the various audio cues you will need to attend to in order to survive this nightmare.

To find your way around, you have to listen for sounds like a ticking clock, a leaking faucet, or God help you, a snarling flesh-eating monster thing. When you bump into something, your character will tell you what he thinks it is and then you can walk against it so you can use the sound of your clothing sliding against it to tell if you are walking in a straight line or not. Suddenly things like crossing the street become very frightening.

I've played through the first few minutes of the game and I'm really quite impressed with it. It's very immersive because you have to pay close attention to the sound since you don't have sight or a sense of touch. This means it allows for some nice tension and scares because there are things to be afraid of in the dark and you are very much in the dark.

The controls would be really simple if you could see, but since you can't, the game is a real challenge and, as long as you don't get too frustrated, it's pretty scary too. I recommend you try this very unique game.

Unfortunately, there are people like me that just don't have the ability to use that simulated surround. It just doesn't work. All it does is give me a headache while I'm trying to find where a sound is coming from.

Just judging by the trailer and "demo", it seems like it might be terrifyingly corny.
