SNES Chrono Trigger getting expensive again?

Post by Retrogamer0001 »

I've just recently sold a cart only copy of Chrono Trigger on Ebay for 100$, and have noticed the value of the game steadily rising the past few months, with most copies selling for around 75-90. Any ideas/thoughts on why this renewed interest is taking place?

I thought it was pretty typical when a game gets re-released on PSN and the Virtual Console, demand goes up for the originals as a result of the hype. I believe it was released on both digital networks as the tail-end of last year, so perhaps it's some residual hype stemming from that?

Mind, I don't recall a time when Chrono Trigger wasn't some sort of considerable investment.

Even so, the average price was $50-60 on eBay a year ago.

A little over a year ago I paid $60 shipped for cart, manual, and both posters. $100 for cart only is either extremely lucky, or just plain nuts!

$100 for a cart? That is dumb.

Sure is, but I'm not complaining. But really, go check Ebay if you don't believe me - the game is without doubt getting more and more expensive.

Cheapest one I can see is going for $75. That's cart-only too. Ouchies! Also, there a new-in-box copy going for over $1,500. Holy re-mortgaging, Batman!

Check the Earthbound prices, they're even worse.

I'm seeing completed listings around $45-60. Looks normal to me.

$100.00 is crazy especially considering I just bought a new and sealed DS version for less than $20.00
