It probably wouldn't be so bad if bars around here didn't have live bands with massive sound systems in a space the size of my living room. So not only do I have to yell so the person next to me can hear me, it's too damned loud for me to hear them. I just don't understand where the fun comes in.
I dislike bars for 2 reasons. I have a very high tolerance, so if I want a buzz to loosen up, it is expensive for me. I don't like beer either, so that means expensive shots or mixed drinks. I too hate having to yell at the person sitting right next to me. Even without a band playing, bars are loud places. I would have 3 reasons, but Houston banned smoking inside businesses years ago, so I don't have to worry about that.

I don't even know if "a watering hole" exists with 100 miles from where I live. They are all obnoxious clubs or overpriced sports bars (a dollar a chicken wing? Really?). In Chicago, there are plenty of privately owned pubs that serves great food and has "the regulars". Straight out of "How I met your Mother" or "Cheers".

That's the kind of bar for me.

I don't know how debatable it is. Pretty much everybody I know agrees with you there, and that includes people who are very much against Chik-Fil-A in this whole recent debacle.

Don't eat there and direct your objection to corporate. That's the proper way to deal with it. Maybe some people working at CFA have realized it is a workplace and is hostile to their beliefs but haven't yet found a replacement job. There have been stories of homosexuals that work at CFA (for whatever reason or necessity) that have received grief like this guy 'helping' even though they're probably already stressed out, so they're being unfairly yelled at for being hatemongers.

The main problem with the Chick Fil A thing, for me, is that this is America, and we can do what we want with our money. Because, as some make it out, its okay to support gay marriage with their money, but not to oppose it.

That guy was being a complete ass. No matter how he feels, he shouldn't take it out on the poor girl working the drive through. She has no control over such things, and she should not be ridiculed for it.

There's something to be said for visibility politics, though, as it grabs headlines and raises awareness - potentially hurting or helping the bottom line/stock prices of the company. The support rally the other day and the kiss-in today are both good for raising attention to the respective causes and for keeping the issue on the national agenda.

This guy is clearly a douchebag, though, and knows nothing about smart protest tactics or how to use the internet/video effectively to make a point. Glad he got fired.

Indeed. I like CFA sandwiches. I'm not religious, but they're closed on Sunday. That's fine I'm not addicted and only had them every once in a while. I don't agree with their policy and I'm done eating their now I know more about where some of their money goes. However, this is a free country and they can do whatever they want as long as they aren't actively hurting anyone. So the possible link to that place 'healing the gay' is problematic, but otherwise they're free to use their money and people are free not to give them any.

As long as people are aware of what is going on they can make informed decisions. CFA just needs to expect lower sales in regions that are more gay friendly now this is on everyone's mind. At first I was all 'hell yeah' at the Bostom mayor telling them they wouldn't let CFA set up shop. However it isn't the government's place to make that decision and they shouldn't be able to block it. Now if the land and retail space owners choose to tell CFA to DIAF, that's perfectly fine.

I do think the CFA appreciation day nonsense was in poor taste.

Am I missing something here? Seriously.

Does chik-fil-a actually support a hate group?

Didn't the President of the company simply say he supports traditional marriage? If the guy said "Those cock sucking faggots have no right to get married as they'll burn in hell!" I could get the outrage. I mean the President of USA isn't against gay marriage, but obviously he supports a traditional family.

I feel like I just watched the first season of Northern Exposure because I am obviously missing something. Obviously some people are dicks, but why would entire cities try to block a BUSINESS, and what would drive an already asshole to go super mega asshole to the point where he feels he has the right to judge her on camera? The entire "I hope these college students are doing a sit it. It only makes sense" was laughable. As a former college kid who had TWO chik-fila-A's on campus, I can say without a doubt college students will only complain that they never have enough honey mustard packets in stock.

Kids thieve off honey mustard like prisoners thieve playboy magazines.

In all honesty, what is the outrage about?
