This reads more like an argument against drinking in general than an argument against any specific age limit.Forlorn Drifter wrote: Right, but alcohol can and does cloud your judgement. If someones going to drive, or vote, or get married, or own and carry guns, I want them to be sober or controlled enough not to be DRUNK when doing them.
Teaching adults will only affect kids so much. Honestly, its a thing of control. A childs parents should be able to control their children well enough that they don't get enough alcohol to drink themselves to death...

I just dislike how little thinking put into this stuff beforehand. You need to have a general idea of how things are going to go beforehand. We haven't even been drinking yet, but my group of friends has a DD just in case. She is comepletely sober and doesn't do any drinking, so we know she's safe.AppleQueso wrote:This reads more like an argument against drinking in general than an argument against any specific age limit.Forlorn Drifter wrote: Right, but alcohol can and does cloud your judgement. My main thing is being safe and prepared, which never happens with younger drinkers, or college kids, for that matter. I know I can call my Dad, or my mom, or my sister if I think I'm pushing the limit. I know whether or not I'm okay to crash somewhere beforehand...
Drinking age of 18 wouldn't bother me, its how big of a deal people make in places where you can drink at 16. I'm sorry, very few 16 year olds can be that responsible.

Speaking of drinking, I'm going out bar hopping tonight for a friend's birthday, and I am dreading it with every fiber of my being. It probably wouldn't be so bad if bars around here didn't have live bands with massive sound systems in a space the size of my living room. So not only do I have to yell so the person next to me can hear me, it's too damned loud for me to hear them. I just don't understand where the fun comes in.

See, the only time I'm okay with the band being that loud that close is at the local metal stuff, since the whole place is only like 250 square feet. And half of that is "lobby" for when you don't want to listen to the shitty bands. Its a tight fit, but it works for what it is.StuntDouble wrote:Speaking of drinking, I'm going out bar hopping tonight for a friend's birthday, and I am dreading it with every fiber of my being. The fun comes in if you are single and meet someone. But yeah, going to a club can be a chore.
I would like to, however, find a nice pub that could become "the regular place". I'll go see my friends band play, but to be honest my friends and I would rather play cards, rip on a movie, or play wii/kinect/rock band. Might sound a bit lame to some, but I assure you there is no lack of continuous laughter when we get together.

Seems like every character on tv still gets their groceries in a paper bag.

Paper bags seem like they'd be a tad easier to animate than sacks.Luke wrote: edit* Random thought:

I find it amusing how every grocery bag on tv is paper and always seems to have celery sticking out. Sitcom actors must eat a lot of celery.AppleQueso wrote: Paper bags seem like they'd be a tad easier to animate than sacks.

Wonder if it's just one of those universal prop things. Like that recurring newspaper:Luke wrote:I find it amusing how every grocery bag on tv is paper and always seems to have celery sticking out. No one ever picked up on my Heisler Beer references in the "what are you drinking" thread.AppleQueso wrote: Wonder if it's just one of those universal prop things. Like that recurring newspaper:
Prop masters are so much cooler than prop comics.
