Cody's Game "Corner"

Post by Cody_D165 »

Hey Racketboy members, figured I'd post some pics of my game room since I recently made some major changes to it. Or as I now like to call it, my game "corner" since most of it centers around one corner of the unfinished basement in our home.

Some shelves. Recently finished migrating my Game Boy Games to those three binders on the right. (and yes I do keep a signed photo of James Rolfe on display )

The main setup:

Just finished the TV stand in the corner today, I used to have much less room until we moved a ton of stuff that was crammed back in that corner, so my dad helped me build the stand to go there. It's only made of cinder blocks and wood, so it's not the most appealing thing to look at, but it works well 8)
Consoles: Model 2 Genesis with 32x, NES top loader, SNES, N64, Gamecube and Game Boy Player, Dreamcast, Saturn, PS1. (Also had a Wii, but the disc drive stopped working. Waiting to purchase a Wii U instead of repairing it because it's out of warranty.)

Some random boxed stuff, handhelds, controller storage, Sega Pico stuff I have from when I was younger, and Sonic the Hedgehog collectibles. Shoeboxes below contain assorted manuals. (also a cleverly placed poster blocking harsh language not made for the eyes of Racketboy viewers on our Harley Davidson mural  )

Reminds me of a friend that was using a door on cinder blocks as a desk for a while.

It works and everything is nice and organized.

yeah man! good stuff.

You should bust out the paints and make mini murals on those cinderblocks.

Dont know if youre a master artist but you should Paint a mario bros level or make the bricks into "?" blocks!

I havent seen a Pico in quite a while. I have a game for it, but no system yet.

how are you pico games? have they withstood the tests of time/kid hands?

Now get a mini fridge with snacks and sodas and youre all set.

Or, you could paint the blocks individual colours and arrange them so they make up the pixels that make up Mario! Although I guess not sure how that will work with the shelves.

Not sure if I explained that properly...

Not exactly, haha. A lot of the games are devoted to learning the alphabet or learning to count. Some of the ones that are more devoted to puzzle solving or minigames as oppose to education can be enjoyed, like Sonic the Hedgehog's Gameroom, but they were designed for kids so they are still very, very basic. Still the system is nice to keep around for some memories or having a friend go "what in the world is that?" :P Plus I'm a huge Sega fan, so it's cool to have a bit of their history that few people ever talk about anymore.

Edit: Just realized you mentioned "kid hands" and might have been talking about condition of the games as well. If so then yes, they're in decent shape and I even have most of the boxes and manuals to still go with them. Nothing too beat up :)

I never have actually met James in person although I'd definitely like to someday. I got the photo through the donation campaign he ran on Indiegogo awhile back for his upcoming movie.

Oh, awesome. I can't wait for that. His episodes just keep getting better and better; I can't wait to see what the movie will be like.
