ATIC ATAC and me have a bitter rivalry that spans many many years. I will finally best it, just like I bested Sabrewulf.

You are Stanley. Stanley lives a simple life of pushing buttons on a computer, but now he has some choices to make.
Someone named "Raphael" had some criticisms of The Stanley Parable that he lodged at the game's creator. The narrator had some snarky fun with it and delivered this video response:

You're going to want to download this one. It's got style, and it's got FUN! This game is all about speed, high flying jumps, and rail rides. It's got a little bit of Jet Set Radio and a little bit of Tony Hawk with a lot of color and abstract polygonal style. Watch the trailer, download the game, and enjoy.

Yes, this is the summer of free Love. You used to have to pay for this game, but the developer has decided that his 5 year labor of Love should now be free to the people. You may have heard of it. It's a world building/terraforming and defense game. It's playable online with multiple players. It has some lovely hazey graphics and quite a few unique ideas.

Pro Pinball: Big Race USA

This is, hands down, my favorite video pinball sim. You can buy the game at gog.com for $5.99, but for a limited time the developers are giving it away for free to people that visit their kickstarter page. This is a really great game and once you play it, you'll see why they deserve your kickstarter dollar. A new Pro Pinball would be awesome.

Middens is a strange game in a strange land. You have a talking revolver. It's all surreal. My attempts to explain are pointless.

MothHead

Image

This is an interactive tech-demo for the latest build of the Unity engine. Unity is a pretty amazing development engine that can allow this level of detail in a browser-based game.

MothHead has a real unique style to it. It's kind of creepy and whimsical at the same time. There are just a couple of short puzzles, and the game is a little buggy (pun only somewhat unintended). This is mainly to show off the graphical power of Unity with the unique art direction of Massive Black studios.

Vanguard Princess is impressive in every way. The graphics are fantastic with carefully detailed sprite work and excellent animations. The sound is great and includes voicework. And most importantly, it is a hell of a lot of fun with plenty of depth to keep you going. Oh yeah, and sexy anime babes, if that's your thing.

The fighting is fast with a lot of stuff going on at one time. Most of the moves are fairly easy to execute with standard SFII-style input commands. They lend nicely to chaining combos as well. Additionally, you have a side character that can help you fight from the sidelines, which adds a unique element to the game. All the side characters are little girls that run around in the background and can be pulled into the battle to aid in building combos.

If you only play one doujin fighting game, this should be it.

This game has been posted about on Racketboy in the past, but at the time it wouldn't just run on an English system. You had to add all this stuff to get your PC to understand the Japanese text. I remember I tried to do it awhile back and I put all this language changing software on my PC and for a brief second I almost got stuck in a Japanese setting where I couldn't read anything and I was scared I wouldn't be able to figure out how to turn it back to English. Thankfully, someone else has now taken care of that now and released this US Patched version of the game so you can just unpack the files and run the game without any worries. The patched version also includes LunaPort.exe, which makes it so you can play the game online. The image link above will lead you to a download for the patched version. You will need to change the file extension from '.exez' to '.exe' to run it.

Normally this thread on Shoryuken has extensive info about this game, but it appears to be down today. Though it was working yesterday, so I'm not sure what is up.

JT, I changed "exez" to "exe" and it unzipped, but gave me a folder full of files with the extension ".player" and that's it. No idea how to run this?
Those of you interested in this game, it has been translated to English and made available on GamersGate. It's currently on sale for $5, but retails for $10.
