Final Fantasy XIII-2
Re: Final Fantasy XIII-2
I liked 13-2 a lot better than 13. The ending sucked though, and SquareEnix saying it would be resolved through DLC was a lie.
Huge RPG fan.

Re: Final Fantasy XIII-2
The to be continued thing sucks. Personally, I would have been very happy with how it all ends if they didn't imply that there is more to come. Trying not to get too spoilery here in saying that it's a very dark ending. I understand that that doesn't appeal to a lot of people, which is clearly why Square doesn't just leave things on that note and instead chose to tease us with the possibility of a sequel. That's lame. I would be fine with FF XIII-2 having a dark ending. Not every story needs a happy ending. Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 is a perfect example. I LOVE FF XIII-2's ending and I DON'T WANT SquareEnix to expand on it. It's a powerful ending. Leave it as it is
On the other hand, if FF XIII-2's ending leads to a very dark themed FF XIII-3, that will make me happy. I think the series has gotten too poppy, and colorful, and upbeat. A darker installment is exactly what this franchise needs. A darker game with darker characters in the vein of Auron from FF X. Notice I said "darK", not emo or angsty. There is a difference. A darker game might lend itself to a better story

Things I love about FF XIII/FF XIII-2 combat
Chaining party attacks to stagger a big enemy and destroy his armor shell
Followed by launching him into the air and proceeding to rape him by having all three members of your party simultaneously air combo his ass to oblivion.
Awesome

That moment when a behemoth is starting his transformation but you only have a few more hits to stagger. It's an exciting race against time.

Yeah, behemoths are one of the cooler enemies they put inMrPopo wrote:That moment when a behemoth is starting his transformation but you only have a few more hits to stagger. It's an exciting race against time.
You just can't beat the kinetic energy combat in FF XIII and FF XIII-2 has. Everything is past paced

Re: Final Fantasy XIII-2
One thing I especially appreciate after having played Xenoblade is the moderation in combat dialog in FF XIII and FF XIII-2. I don't know why, but they decided to have characters in Xenoblade talk constantly in combat, often repeating the same cheesy, over enthusiastic lines over and over again. I found that rather obnoxious.

Re: Final Fantasy XIII-2
The thing that bugs me about the "To be continued" ending is what a previous person said, that SquareEnix said it didn't immediately mean a FFXIII-3 like everyone speculated, but that it'd be resolved through DLC. Unless Lightning's DLC pack resolved it (which is the only DLC they've offered not a costume/coliseum pack aside from Sazh's stupid gambling stuff) then they lied.
I honestly loved the ending aside from the TBC though, and given how vast the improvements were over XIII, I would love to play a XIII-3, just wish they'd remaster some of the older FFs first (come on FF VI HD).
