What do you want out of the next Batman series?

But if they had used one of those characters there wouldn't be any mystery to it and there would probably be an expectation that they become a sidekick during the movie.

And there was absolutely no need whatsoever to create this character. Like there wasn't enough people out there in the Batman mythos that are in line for the Batman Cape & Cowl already? They couldn't have used one of them? Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Damien Wayne, Jean-Paul Valley, etc. Hell, there's even girl characters like Stephanie Brown, Cassandra Cain, Barbara Gordon, and Batwoman.

I understand there's a lot of love out there for the actor. Which I have no problem with. Personally, I haven't seen enough of the guy to have an opinion one way or the other about him. But couldn't they have used the same actor as one of the above mentioned characters? The Bat-Universe is pretty stuffed full already, as it is.
I think the reason is that people love the current movie universe and want to stick with that. As a comic fan it took me a long time to consider movies separate from comics continuity... I would have no problem if JGL was Batman IF it was a continuation of the Dark Knight movies. Also the JGL character was because WB wanted a contingency plan to continue the series without Nolan and Bale.

Today I finally saw TDKR and have to say that I was impressed. I was impressed on how much of the source material they threw in AND how they blended origins together to keep us comic readers off guard. There are people who hate the ending, but it fits perfectly with what is popular in comics right now. In almost all universes (Marvel, DC, Valiant) people are accepting new takes, people, and origins of popular characters. Plus this wouldn't be the first time
that Bruce gave the cape and cowl away.

[quote="D.D.D."]It'd be cool if they did a Batman Beyond movie. Even though it seemed like it was going to become it as Wayne was coming back at Batman in TDKR.

I'd love to do a BB trilogy.

* Film 1: Essentially Batman Beyond: Year One, showing Terry becoming Batman and fighting a few of his villains in an anthology-style plot structure (a la Sin City), but also showing Willy Watt as he slowly develops telekinetic powers (a la Carrie or Chronicle), and yes I know WW's story and I changed it. I'm thinking Paul Sorvino as Bruce Wayne, Penn Badgely as Terry, Asia Argento as Inque, and either Christopher Mintz-Plasse or Kevin McHale as Willy Watt

* Film 2: Terry's now in college and asked to join the Justice League, and dealing with a resurrected Ra'a Al-Ghul (sic) and the snake cult whose name currently escapes me.

* Film 3: Terry's in his 30s, his brother's now the new Nightwing, Max is Batwoman, and Terry's wife Dana doesn't know they're Batman , Nightwing and Batwoman, respectively. And other than that it's basically Return of the Joker, with elements of other stories (Mr. Freeze maybe).

I think it would be cool to start seeing crossovers with Marvel! Bats and Spidey vs Carnage and Scarecrow! EPIC!

Not gonna happen anytime in the near future. Not only are they 2 different comic companies with completely different licensing-rights, but DC Comics is owned by Warner Bros., and most of Marvel's movies are done through either Marvel Studios or 20th Century Fox.

This.

Personally, though, I don't want to see them continue the Nolanverse, especially not under a new director.

TDKR wraps everything up for that universe so nicely. We don't need any more.

Because a ton of people think he was the best thing about TDKR. Plus TDKR blatantly shows us over and over that he and Bruce are very similar, besides the millionaire playboy and double life thingy.

I think Batman is going in one direction: Lighter.

Probably lighter... After all, how much darker can you make it while still keeping the Hollywood movie going audience?

JG-L the best thing about TDKR? Hadn't heard that and despite that I think the guy makes some good movies, I definitely don't think he was the best thing about the movie.

Hate it or not, I believe that one of the best parts of TDKR was Bane's Sean-Connery-With-Asthma voice. Seriously, I loved it.

Bane's voice strongly reminded me of Gert's Goldfinger. Especially the low to high to low pitches, like an engine revving and going back to idle.
