Thats a great idea, Gearbox needs to take notice on that.Xeogred wrote:Yeah DNF is totally worth $8. But yeah one by Gearbox with a regular production schedule would be cool to see. I'm not betting on it though, never. lol
I think they should just straight up make him a character in Borderlands, that'd be awesome.
What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
Re: What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
If you can see the future while remembering the past, you may just have control of the present.
Re: What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
So after a couple of hours with Deus Ex: Human Revolution yesterday, I like it almost as much as the original - which is to say not much at all. The graphics look dated, the combat is sluggish and doesn't have a good non-stealth option, and the writing is all very
so far.

That's some of the best game writing to date. Deus Ex: HR's writing ranks alongside such luminary titles as Planescape: Torment in my mind.

So far it is full of boring cliches and uninteresting characters. If I can bring myself to perservere a bit more, maybe I'll change my mind. So far that seems unlikely since I also don't like the gameplay.J T wrote:WHAT!?!?!dsheinem wrote:and the writing is all veryso far.

Without spoiling, why did you think it was so great? So far the dialogue trees are worse than Bioware's...
Re: What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
Lots of Deus Ex lovin'.
Re: What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
It's not the dialogue that I like so much as it is all of the writings and plot developments related to augmentation. They had tons of great ideas about how human augmentation could become possible (the science is almost there now and they connect the dots for you enough to make it believable) and then the story continues to fully explore the moral, political, social, and personal aspects that such technology would have. The more you read scattered newpaper articles, PDAs, and e-mails, the richer appreciation you gain for how the human augmentation industry has had such a huge impact on all of the citizens of the world and it brings the environment to life. There are lots of nice plot twists and moral dilemmas surrounding how this advanced technology is used and abused.dsheinem wrote: Without spoiling, why did you think it was so great? Because it's a morally ambiguous issue, I never felt that the dialogue choices felt extremely heavy handed in a traditional good-or-bad decision model, which is the usual complaint lodged at Bioware games. The one major point where there is a tacky decision tree is at the final scene of the game, and I won't spoil that for you.
And the graphics are better than you are giving them credit for. Perhaps you need to switch to DX11 and turn all your specs up. I thought they were shite at first too, but I realized I hadn't tweaked my specs right. Check out my screenshots in the spoiler tags below (the screens won't spoil anything about the plot other than the first 5 minutes, they are just really big).

Why don't any of the people have any shadows? Do you have that accidentally turned off?J T wrote:And the graphics are better than you are giving them credit for.

That's odd. I hadn't noticed that in my pics until you pointed it out, and now it seems obvious.Hobie-wan wrote: Why don't any of the people have any shadows? Do you have that accidentally turned off?
It must be a problem on my end since the game can clearly have shadows:

Re: What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
See, and I think that all the stuff about augmentation and the resulting dilemmas is just so rote, full of ideas that have been done many times over (and usually better) in other mediums. I'll stick through it a bit longer, but so far it is putting me to sleep.J T wrote:It's not the dialogue that I like so much as it is all of the writings and plot developments related to augmentation. I am playing on the 360, so my point of comparison for graphics are other recent games on the system - this isn't up to snuff with its peers on that platform.
Re: What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
I agree with JT on the writing compared to Bioware's modern stuff. I was surprised you said that, it doesn't get much more predictable and black and white than Bioware's stuff... HR walked the gray line fence a lot better in comparison.
All the Deus Ex games have had very ambiguous and underwhelming endings, but I've always seen that as exactly being the point. You can't just magically save the world overnight.
