Which GBA RPG should I take camping with me?

Which GBA RPG should I take camping with me?

Post by Nintendork666 »

So, I'm leaving on a 5 to 6 day camping trip tomorrow, and feel it would be the perfect time to crack open a new GBA RPG that I haven't really gotten a proper chance to play yet.

Here are the options...

a) Boktai
b) Lufia: The Ruins of Lore
c) Lunar Legend
d) Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
e) Phantasy Star Collection
f) Sigma Star Saga
g) Summon Night: Swordcraft Story (I also own the sequel, if that matters at all)

Thanks in advance for the input!

Since you'll be outside a lot, take Boktai along. (But, if we're just basing this on quality, might I suggest the phenomenal Golden Sun?)

Why are you taking electronic trinkets on a camping trip. Enjoy the outdoors and camp!

If you've never played Phantasy Star games I wouldn't advise your first foray to be with the GBA ports.

Yeah, I was going to say this initially. Even I don't bring gadgets with me while camping. But, as long as you're going to be outside for a while, you might as well play Boktai. :P

That's what I was initially thinking, but I don't really know if I'd be able to handle the glare on the screen. That was an issue last time I tried playing the game. Never really worked up the nerve to buy/assemble some sort of blacklight rig to trick the solar sensor.

I'm not really a big outdoors guy. This is my fourth summer going out to the same lake with (pretty much) the same group of people. This is mostly for the car ride(s), the beach (I can hardly swim) and when/if everyone passes out before me at night (drunken grinding... hell yeah).

Why's that? I was led to believe that they were pretty much identical.

I'd recommend Superstar Saga. There's never a point in it where you will feel frustrated enough to go to the internet for help, so you're more likely to keep being able to play it. Phantasy Star collection is a series of RPGs from before they learned good design sensibilities, so there's a lot of "kick the player in the balls" decisions made by the developers. Not something I'd want to be my only game for several days.

Man you need some Castlevanias the music and sfx alone would be awesome to mess with some peeps when their sleeping. lol

But I was thinking more Mario & luigi or Lufia (cause I know you).

That sounds like pranking and spooking time to me.

But if you're not into many aspects of the trip, you're going why?
