For Raiden Project, Normal difficulty is much easier than arcade, and Hard difficulty is just a touch harder. I usually play Hard on that one.
This game so cool mame can't handle it, after almost 20 years
Luckily, the ps1 port is pretty dang accurate on hard mode.
