Why do people eat out at McDonalds?

I don't even find McDonald's cheap. At most it might be a dollar cheaper than a regular restaurant or deli. How is that cheap? That said, I still get fast food on occasion. Sometimes it is easier when I need something quick. Like when I'm at a convention.

When my kids were younger, we would go occasionally (once every 2-3 months) for the Happy Meal. Otherwise, we don't go.

My in-laws go there when traveling from FL to VT by car and like their salads.

There aren't a lot of 24hour resturants that are in as many places as McD.

If you want some food at 3am, what other choices do you really have?

But really, I understand why people would eat at McDonald's... It's just that those same reasons apply to most other fast food chains there is. And in the United States there are a lot of them, most of them with more interesting (if as unhealthy) food - that's why I don't really get the McDonald's allure either.

McDonalds is a long running institution. Our grandparents ate their and gave their kids Happy Meals. Now our parents gave us Happy Meals. And now we give our kids Happy Meals. We get raised with it and it holds a special place in our hearts, heakening back to earlier times.

I generally try to avoid fast food and mcdonalds now. And mcdonalds isn't my favorite fast food, but their $1 hot & spicy mcchickens are good. That said, the berry almond chicken salad from wendys is both healthy and delicious.
