Really? Empire has Luke starting his real journey toward being a true Jedi, confronting the one thing that stands in his way, which happens to lead to one of the best scenes in movie history, and to top it off the bad guys win.

Wanted to hear your thoughts on it. I agree with you that Empire is the best of the series. Spoilers ahead, but no spoiler text because, c'mon it's Star Wars.

Romance without meeting cute. Struggle without being paint by numbers. Groundbreaking action that had you on the edge of your seat.

One shot I'll never forget was when Vader kneels. "There's a guy more badass than Vader? That he would take orders from?".

But it wouldn't be great without Jedi. It's the Austin Powers "you complete me", not the sappy JerryMG delivery.

Ah. Back in the day when someone could have an entire hand chopped off and still get a PG rating.

And that voice. To quote my wife: "Sounds like Tom Hardy is trying to do his best Sean Connery impression. And failing."

BLOOBIDY BLOBBIDY BLABBIDY GOTHAM IS BLOOBIDY YOURS!
Even if the Black Gate prisoners were in there because of the Dent Fiasco - um... they're still criminals. Why would Bane think Gotham would want them released? Idiot.
The fact is that this film is the weakest of the Nolan Batverse. Begins was excellent, Dark Knight was comic/cinema perfection, and this one is literally a longer length step down from both of those films. It's what Return of the Jedi was to the Star Wars series.

You can't beat Empire Strikes Back. You can like Jedi more, or have it be your favorite (as it is with me because of nostalgia, likely) but you can't deny that Empire is the baddest assest of the trilogy.
I don't think that his love for Talia has to be more than platonic/fatherly/as-a-guardian. This isn't implied otherwise.

Setting up a police state in gotham for 2 months, knowing that they intended to blow it up eventually was silly. The only logic I got from it is that A. They wanted to punish gotham, not just destroy it or B. Talia wanted bruce to have to watch the chaos to get revenge for him "murdering" her father. Or both.

It was pretty obvious that the whole purpose was to torture Batman. First Bane explicitly says so, since Batman isn't afraid to die, so he must be punished first. And then when it turns out Talia was pulling the strings, now the torture becomes personal.

Oh I agree. See that's what some of my friends are claiming, that I say the movie "sucked". And while I'll admit I probably did say that, I dont mean it sucked in the way that say, Twilight sucks, but rather, compared to the Bat-magnificence of Dark Knight, it kinda blows. good movie, seen it twice at the theater, and I'll likely buy it on the Blu when it shows up. But Bane just wasn't believable to me, he wasn't terrifying like Joker was/could be, and he was a hired hand. I mean, come on. Bleh.

New trailer up for THE MASTER:

Something about a Paul Thomas Anderson movie that is equal parts unsettling, fascinating, and American cinema refined. Can't wait for this one.

I like Return of the Jedi more. It's my favorite Star Wars movie. The final battle between Luke and Vader is epic, seeing The Emporer's vaunted powers finally, the speeder bike scene, and the simultaneous ground battle and space battle on and above Endor. Plus it opens with the ever memorable Jabba the Hutt part.

Empire slows when luke is training on degobah and separated from the rest of the cast. Revenge slows when they start hanging out with the ewoks. If there had been some swamp monster battle on degobah it would have been perfect. But if the ewoks had Been replaced with the wookies, return would have topped it.
