Arcade games 98-2001

Post by RCBH928 »

I remember that around the years lost 98-2001 , there were some great and beautiful looking arcade games .

Can any one tell me how can I play these games now? Like are there ports or roms or are they on the PSN store?

I know that the Dreamcast was the console to go to for this kind of stuff, but outside Crazy Taxi and Soul Calibur(I heard its BETTER than the arcade) , I don't know much.

I remember there were too many shooting games and a safari one .

Who can help on this topic/?

You have to find out what hardware it runs on and see if that hardware is emulated. Either in Mame or other emulators. most of these late arcade games are only possible to emulate with special emulators that need a powerful pc to run.
The Safari one came out for the Wii, but perhaps also possible to play with a Dreamcast/naomi emulator.
Here you can search on klov with a date range.

DC and PS2 had loads of ports.
It would be great to somehow get a list of all arcade games released between 98-2001 and see if they were ported or if they can be emulated.
Alternatively check gamefaqs. It is the most complete games database on the net including arcade, console and computer games.

Try this. It goes alphabetically by name and you have set the years going from oldest to newest for each letter. Sadly some games don't have the year listed. I don't how complete it is though, but figured it was worth a look.

GREAT sites!

System 16 is particularly amazing, You can search by release date! I love that time period, Sega used to look soo good!
Also i am amazed they are still manufacturing Arcade games! I thought Arcade was dead!!

now I can just look up a game , and I'll do my own research for its ports. I am guessing Emulation is just too heavy. (Amazing given how powerful today's computers are compared to 2000 hardware)

I am not sure why I am associating the system16 website with Sega? I think there is another Sega or Genesis website called system16 or am i imagining ?

sega-16.com

System 16 was a Sega arcade setup as well, like Naomi, Capcom CPS, ets.
