Arcana Heart

Post by ott0bot »

I just picked up this game for 11 bucks at a record store. I love the look, its got gorgous sprites and nice backrounds. How is the game play? I'm not a big fighter fan, but I love JoJo's Bizzare Adventure. How do you think the Arcana system fairs against the stands in JoJo? More versitile...too complicated? I found the concept of being able to pick your own pretty nice. I heard the end boss is super cheap and near impossible or am I mis-informed?I'm liking it so far, and happy since I found it soo cheap. Is it worth my time or just another fighter?

Opinions...

I can't tell you about the boss because i rarely play single player mode on any fighter.

that being said I'm a fan of this game, I like the graphics, pace, and overall "feel". It's really fun with a friend and a couple arcade sticks.

If you can believe it, the first arcade edition was released at the end of 2006! Why do we have to wait so long for home ports?!? The arcade sequel has already been out for months.

My guess is that the game wasn't likely to get released here in the States, but there's been a surge of games coming out for the PS2 lately that are really just translations of originally Japan-Only games that have been out for 2-3 years. For instance, just around Christmas 2007 Fire Pro Wrestling Returns came out here, even though the game came out in Japan back in early 2005. The PS2 is still surprisingly popular despite the rise of the next gen consoles, so they've been looking for more solid games to bring over for it.

I've played a bit of Arcana Hearts. Pretty decent fighter, nothing absolutely amazing but pretty good. Although you tend to get labelled as a perv by some due to it being an all girl fighting game.
I wanted to be a Teminator but they require you have an armored hyperalloy skeleton and mine's mostly recycled truck tires.

bump this old thread up, was going to start a new one asking the same thing.
What do you think about Arcana Hearts and when if ever do you think we'll get number 2 over here.

Not to mention the cast of characters don't even crack the age of 16.
I think there's a 12 year old in there. It makes me feel awkward at times.....

I bought the game at launch, but never got into it. It's really quality and in-depth, but it demands more of you than Tekken or Soul Calibur ever would.

Plus, I never had any human opponent to play with. Once again, an XBLA release would be better suited to replicate the arcade experience. It's nice to have it on the PS2 (hooray useful d-pad!), but a human opponent is 50% of the experience for a fighting game... I have no idea why there aren't any Fighting game MMOs out there.

The idea of a leveling system doesn't really work for a fighting game. It's been implemented, but a skillful player running up against a low level? Talk about getting trashed.

Anyway, seeing some gameplay really interested me. Would you guys say it's worth picking up at its current price? What is its current price, anyway?
