What was the last movie you've seen?
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Can't say Anne Hathaway has ever made me think of John de Lancie... but then, I've never seen John without a shirt on.

I've superimposed their mugs on the previous page and the eyes are indeed alike

Just got back from seeing The Dark Knight Rises. Totally amazing. It's bigger than TDK, both in length and in scope. I was sceptical of Bane as the villain, but he was done for better than he ever has been before. There were several unexpected plot twists, and the ending manages to tie up everything. It's as good as TDK, possibly better.

Absolutely bonkers..First death threats to critics, now actual killing sprees. What is it with this mass hysteria?

So sad. So senseless.

This is exactly what I said was going to happen. Writing a review right after seeing the movie that makes it sound better than it was.BoringSupreez wrote:Just got back from seeing The Dark Knight Rises.... It's as good as TDK, possibly better.
Watched THE ARTIST again with friends who didn't want to see a silent film. They loved it. Who wouldn't?
THE ARTIST remains flawless. The direction, angles, framing, story, characters and their development, lighting, pace, having three consistently great acts...It is an absolute delight from beginning to end.
Every frame of the film is a piece of art. Every scene has something to do with the story. And it even does the impossible: make you forget that John Goodman was Walter Sobchak or Dan Conner.
THE ARTIST deserves every accolade it has received, and it is an utter shame that more people haven't viewed it because it isn't "a talkie".
Even on a second viewing, it had the same impact on me. It was great seeing my friends watching the film as well. Everyone was leaning in towards the screen with a fist under their jaw and a smile on their face. Around twenty minutes in, my buddy Pringles said "Dammit. Please pause the movie, I gotta pee", and just to avoid any other pauses, everyone took a trip to the throne.
THE ARTIST isn't a rental, it is a keeper.

Damn I loved Rises.
It's got its flaws, sure, but the high points more than make up for any shortcomings it has.
I gotta say, though, in response to Luke saying the film seemed to drag a lot in the middle, that the film could've been cut down to a solid hour-and-a-half... No way. Just, no way. It actually felt really brisk to me. I find it interesting that Luke says the beginning and end are the strongest parts, while I personally think the beginning is the weakest section, mostly because of the pacing.
Is it better than Begins or TDK? Honestly, I find it hard to care. It's incredibly satisfying as a conclusion. Some people (Luke) are going to think its a pretty big step down from the first two. Others I think are going to make a strong case for it being the best out of all of them. It's definitely the most emotional and has the biggest stakes. I like it just as much as the other two.
Just gonna directly respond to some of what Luke said above. BIG spoilers btw:

I disagree with almost all your points, Luke, and thought it was leaps and bounds better than The Avengers as well. TDK was better, but this was excellent and easily on par with Begins.Luke wrote:You just saw it didn't you? I knew this was going to happen.AppleQueso wrote:Damn I loved Rises.
