Your favorite console

Post by RCBH928 »

Yea its that simple. A lot of people argue over which is the best console ever (for me its between snes,ps1,ps2)...

but which one you are most found of, something that is up to you to like for any certain reason.

For long time, SNES was my dream to own, every one had one except me. I bought mine in '95, only for the 64 to be released in '96 and i can't be any more pathetic.

64 is my most loved console. I never owned one. I know you probably say then how can you say that(i had ps1, which really was COOL at its time for the CD and controller) , but I cant get over the 64.

For me the 64 achieved a lot of beautiful art direction (zelda, 007, mario 64, wrestling, turok, banjo kazooie) a lot of original titles jumping to a perfect 3D world, maybe better than their 2D older siblings. In platform games like the banjo, mario, zelda, the vast world and huge buildings just amazed me at that time as a kid. The out of this world controller with its beautiful colors and analogue stick is so new and exciting.

Given the fact that a cartridge can produce so much of good graphics against "FUTURE IS NOW" CD games just made you feel how powerful this system(in a lot of ways i think N64 had even better graphics). The clean anti-aliased graphics are simply amazing to me at that time.

The additional "64" to each game made it look cool and special. For ps1 you get "final fantasy, tekken" but for 64 you get "mario 64, doom 64, duke nukem 64" , which kind of makes it special that no one else has this game, its a psychological, but to think this game is only capable by the 64 and for it makes it look COOL.

I never had it , and hardly recal playing it. But I got it from a friend a while ago, and I have already played "kazooie-conker-ocarina-007-mario 64" even some super smash and wrestling, sure some games graphcis made me want to shoot myself in the head (like south park) but the good games had a very pleasing graphics and experience that made the whole experience so much fun that I enjoy it even that I own Wii and 360 now, and keep the 360 games for later as I put those games to play before them. I am still buying games for it to enjoy, I am nostalgic a lot, but i don't feel the same for the other systems even the ones I owned like gameboy and ps1.

what's yours?

**A note: I hardly met some one who said that xbox is his favorite console, even 360. its a very GREAT console with nice graphics and beautiful games, but I do not think capitalist Microsoft has enough style to capture the harts of the people with its highly successful console like other failing console did that people still swear by like sega's saturn and dreamcast.

N64 games have beautiful art direction? You mean the N64 graphics? You mean a wrestling game? Each top their own I guess.

My all time favorites, based on how much time I've played them over years and how much I got out of them, will have to be the Dreamcast, Amiga and Mega Drive. Can't pick just one out of them though, but if I was only allowed to own three those would be the ones to keep.

Easy decision for me--the Saturn. Guardian Heroes, Shining Force 3, Dragon Force, Legend of Oasis, Metal Slug, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Radiant SIlvergun, Burning Rangers, Nights, Three Dirty Dwarves, D&D Collection, Princess Crown, X-men Vs. Street Fighter. Oh, the list could go on, but I was convinced at "Guardian Heroes."

Okay I just noticed this part of your post. "Capitalist Microsoft." I don't want to burst your revolutionary bubble or anything, but every major console producer is and has operated according to capitalist business principles.

Also, take a look at the developers making games for the 360: Rare, Silicon knights, etc. These are some of the same developers who brought so much style to the N64 (you name numerous Rare games) and Gamecube, so I don't buy the argument that Microsoft's role as the manufacturer of the console prevents the games on the system from having "style."

I'm not a Microsoft spokesperson by any means, but I do get tired of people waging political and ideological wars against them based on flimsy and illogical evidence (or a lack thereof).

For me it's with out a doubt the Sega Genesis. It's the first system that I had to myself, great games that will probably will never get old for me (Sonic series, Toejam & Earl, Streets of Rage, Phantasy Star, Golden Axe, etc.), great controllers that feel good in your hand and anyone can pick up learn to play quickly, and the way that many of the games looked and played really stick with me. My Genesis gets the most hours of playtime than my other consoles and it holds a lot of nostalgia for me.

It's a hard decision. The Dreamcast has my favorite hardware (great graphics, four controller ports, VMU, almost perfect controller) but the Saturn has my favorite games (Nights into dreams, Sega Rally).

I'll go with Dreamcast. I got my first Dreamcast in 2006, it was a white one and it came with NFL 2K. After a couple of flea market trips I ended up with a white one and two Sega Sports ones. I gave away my white one and repainted the sports ones. I've invested so much time into the Dreamcast
I couldn't possibly get rid of it. I really love the games I've been able to get for it, especially Jet Grind Radio and Sonic Adventure 2.

Super Nintendo is my favorite system, because I feel that it struck a perfect balance between graphical/audio capabilities, quality of gameplay, and overall quality of titles that has been rivalled at times, but never matched.

I don't HAVE a fave. I love it all. I don't know what it feels like to play a PS3 though, but if it's only half as fun as a 360, then I'm sure I'm an idiot for not having a PS3 already.

i grew up with nintendo. when i was really young i had a snes but not many games. and its a console i'm revisiting now and enjoying vastly.

but i'd have to say my all time personal favorite is either the n64 or the gamecube. those are the ones i got to experience in full effect.

The Nintendo 64 popped my video game cherry.
