GB Micro's Future

Post by andymol21 »

Does anyone else here think that the Gameboy Micro will become a rare and desirable system in the future? I mean, look at the NES JR and SNES JR. A redesigned, smaller version of a successful console that came out after the original had been superseeded and the prices for them are much higer than that of the normal console. I've seen GBMs in perfect condition in my local Gamestation for around £20-30. I'd say you are doing yourself a favour to get one now before they disappear.

It's possible that they could become collectible, but it will be interesting to see if Nintendo does a mini portable again in the future for those that don't want a big DS in their pocket.
I've been toying with getting one, but giving up DS functionality would be hard for me.
There's a lot of GBA games I love, but I dunno....

The thing that kills it for me is lack of GB and GBC support. Just seems boneheaded not to put it in, even using emulation or something. Still, I think it would be a good idea with one of those Movie Player devices, but only if it supported SDHC so I could have the same 8GB I get on my iPod. That and a couple of Zelda roms and I'd be in the shop buying it now!

i've been thinking the same thing. I keep going back and forth on the mother 3 delux import micro. Its kinda way overboard on price (which is what is keeping me from it), but if i was going to bother with the micro at all it would be some kinda crazy import becuase i can after all already play GBA games on the DS.

yeah- still don't have it. heh. Can't see it in the foreseeable future either.

I have a Game Boy micro and love it. I picked up the Famicom edition (non Club Nintendo) about a year and a half ago for US $50. I think it's one of the best investments I've ever made. The little beast is amazingly sexy and extremely well put together. After seeing mine, my two best friends went out that day and bought their own. I have all the Game Boys sans the SP, so I really don't mind losing backwards compatibility. Plus, in honesty I don't play the older GB and GBC games as much as I used to. Even when I do, I prefer them on their original systems.

I can see it becoming a hot sought after item in a few years. I got one when they came out and really like it. Great screen and buttons and was insanely small so it was easy to travel with. I had to sell it though because it was uncomfortable to play with after 10 mins. of playing. My hands kept cramping up. I kinda regret selling it because I never ran into anyone that had another one and many people didn't even knew it existed. In a few years people might want to collect them because of their size and that wonderful screen.
