Ellert, any tips you can share for squeezing out extra points? I feel like I just need to be more consistent. I have some runs where I approach chains of 1,000 or so on some levels but not others, and haven't yet had a run where I do that consistently on each of the first four levels.
still playing in Strong style? try Bomb style.

C'mon DSH; post that score! I'm rooting for yah! Time to start playing. 3 or 4 days go by and everyone is doubling my fluke score.

I think I am having more scoring success with Ship A and Bomb style, as a few times I have gotten out of level 2 with between 900mill-1billion points (I usually end level 1 between 400-500million or so), but then that ship/style seems to suck on level 3 where a wider shot is really helpful.

I really like the balance of width of beam/scoring potential of the different types of ships. Type B is obviously the best ship for scoring, but I suck with it. Power style is also something I don't think I am ready for, as I want to have the auto-bomb for anything from the level 2 boss onwards...

I still think I can get close to 2 billion with the right run, but I am starting to get reset syndrome  Really enjoying this game, though!

Nice one! That mode is silly. You can get over half the possible score in the game from the last boss. Good thing its such a cheap DLC.

Now, Black Label is much better!

I am ignoring other modes for now since I feel I am getting close to a potential 1cc, or at least a night high score for the thread. Tell me, how long did it take you to get the one that now sits atop the board?

I just put in 4 runs after work.

1.2bil
1.1bil
reset
1.3bil

I only have 150-300 mil after stage 1. That must be where i'm missing out. I generally make my points on stages 3 and especially 4.

Hit stage 5 boss on the 2nd run, but only had 1/3 of health gone before I croaked out.

How are you best surviving 3?

My trick for Stage 1: start Hyper just about as soon as possible (right around the time you uncover the second bee). Mostly let the bullets come to you. I can get 600-700 chain going into the boss. The Hyper should stop just beforehand. Laser the boss to hold the chain, then start Hyper chaining again about the time when you get over the water. Again, mostly let the bullets come to you - don't kill stuff too soon. I have finished the level with about 1300-1400 chain (picking up maybe 50 or so on the boss) by never dropping it from the first bullet.

Boy, there's a ton of stuff on that stage, so i'll just add the couple things that seem to be helping me out.

Just like the huge pinwheels on stage 4 that you have to lazer shot for about 6 seconds before they explode, same idea on stage 3 with the bigger things, usually in the middle of the screen, I try to hold center on all of those, dodge a few times, and as they are all about to close on you, often it will explode (and so will all of it's bullets). If you bail out on the first wave and corner yourself, then you have to use spreadshot to make contact with them, and they take much longer to kill obviously, and I usually end up dying anyways, so I try to maintain lazer in center.

Stage 3 boss is harder than 4, but i'm getting much better.

The other thing, you have those swarms that came at you in waves from one side repeatedly. If they are coming from the left, I stay far left and suck in the first wave, then tap right just a bit, let the next wave come, tap right, ...then you have to start climbing the right side of the screen almost to the top, after the 5th wave (I think?), there is almost always a slight gap where you can cut back across the pattern and recenter yourself.

I don't go for bees on stage 3 and 4 yet - if they are there and accessible great, but I found my self sacrificing to get them too often, especially if you uncover them "late".
