Here's some of my "camera roll" from my walk through the island of Dear Esther:

I found myself on a strange island near a dilapidated lighthouse as the sun was setting:

Eventually, I started exploring the island:

Don't fall down!

After a bit I ended up in some caves, which were - for me - the most beautiful part of the game, and one of the most of any game, ever:

There was a lot more in there, but I'll let you find it for yourself.

Back outside, it was dark:

This one has some minor story spoiling, but gives a sense of how the game relates narrative (text + voiceover)

My advice: do it all in one session. Plan 90-120 minutes just in case (it took me about 75).
