Re: DoDonPachi: Resurrection - High Scores
I'm interested to see what you guys think of the hidden route. I thought it was so cool that there was almost a 2nd game hidden in this one.
To access it, you have to destroy 3 of the silo's at the beginning of stage 1 before the tanks run over them. The hard one to hit is the one on the left, behind another one. Once you kill that one, head back to the right and kill the third. (There are more than 3 silos, but you only need 3 of them to hit it). You also have to grab any bees that you uncover (but if they stay hidden you are good), and you have to have full hyper when you get past the silo section. Right when the midboss should pop up, a wormhole opens up and sends you traveling back in time.
Its not worth restarting everytime to get there, unless the first loop is already trivial for you, but its really fun to see!
I wish Noise was playing this, as with all the false info he's recieved in the past, ther eis no way he'd believe this

I haven't triggered this yet, but did see it in the one replay I watched. How is it for scoring points?

Re: DoDonPachi: Resurrection - High Scores
I'm not sure... I know that there is the full set of 10 bees, and you have to collect every single bee in the game to access the hidden 2nd loop... but that stuffs kinda far off. I don't think it'll affect scoring much in the first loop. Although I guess there are a few more enemies and bullets to chain off of, so scoring might be easier.
The trick is, if you die at all while in the alternate route (Which is from the midboss to the boss) on any stage, it rejects you from the hidden path. You can die in the first half of the stage or the boss though. If you get to the midboss of stage 3, 4, or 5, and have collected every bee up to that point, it will enter you (back) into the hidden route.
It does make the midbosses even harder than the bosses though, which is good fun. The music is also remixed from the midboss to the boss, showing hints of tunes from older Dodonpachi games.

Re: DoDonPachi: Resurrection - High Scores
I just need to work on strategy of when to active Hyper. Now, I'm using it as soon as I can. But I know that's not smart. I'm hitting about 400M, but that won't change my rank on our hi score thread, so not posting a new score... yet.
Re: DoDonPachi: Resurrection - High Scores
I keep hitting a billion+ in most runs (1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4) - but still can't seem to pass our current leader
On the two best runs I got to level 5 , which means I am close to a 1cc (1st loop) on normal, which is awesome
Ellert, any tips you can share for squeezing out extra points? I feel like I just need to be more consistent. I have some runs where I approach chains of 1,000 or so on some levels but not others, and haven't yet had a run where I do that consistently on each of the first four levels.

Pretty sure I had this issue last year with my Hori stick too.
But does anyone else have problems playing this with tap to shoot for Type A and Type C ships? I have to use the turbo fire option with these ships, or I will suddenly stop firing because it seems to think I am trying to fire the laser. Guess my precision with the tapping isn't high enough. But with the Type B ship things are perfectly smooth, like with every other shmup I play on the 360.
Weird issue.

Re: DoDonPachi: Resurrection - High Scores
I mostly try to hit it as soon as I can BUT only if I already have a decent chain started (around 200 or so) AND there's lots of shit on the screen and I think it would save me/ maintain the chain to keep it. I know there are sections of each level where it makes more sense, but it I don't feel like I have those all sorted and my runs aren't similar enough yet to be able to do that consistently.noiseredux wrote:I just need to work on strategy of when to active Hyper. I had the same problem as you Erik, when using a standard wired 360 controller. Tapping for tap shot just did not work for me, I had to use autofire.

Stage 3 boss is significantly harder than stage 4, imo. He crushes me everytime, hit him on this run at 800mil on my first life, so had 3 in the bank and approaching the extend - felt like this was going to be an ALL the way I was going.
3rd boss sucked 2 lives and all bombs on a 3rd. Major letdown. Ended up clearing the Stage 4 on that same life, but then died out quick on stage 5. Was not prepared with the steady purple lazers coming from the sides. Took me a lot of hits to figure out (HOLD Shot while passing, then spread shot in between, then HOLD while passing the next, etc.). I should do better on that area next time.
Still happy w/the run for sure though.
