Well done anime scenes, enjoyable combat system, liked the transition between mech and hand-to-hand combat. Annoyed with the second disc.

Why didn't they finish the series? I want to know what happens.

I'm waiting for Moz to go off on this one. Or maybe we could just put several links up to his previous rants!

Personally, I love this game. I basically have little interest in playing it again though, because it's sooooo time consuming. The combat system is pure gold. More active than typical FF style menu driven combat, and not overly active like Legend of the Dragoon....ugh. Not to mention there are mech fights too, which add an another dynamic. The story, while convaluted and longwinded, is good and more importantly somewhat adult. It's got these messed up bloody cut scenes about people freaking out and accidentally murdering villages or researchers. Fun stuff. I liked the world and the characters too. The second disc is indeed a bit frustrating and some of the levels can get annoying with all the back tracking. But all in all a solid rpg. If anyone hasn't played it yet I highly recomend doing so.

I never really get around to any of these. No reason for me to give this one another chance, instead of the others.

I was referring to your dislike of Xenogears...not the whole together retro thing. I just thought it was funny how well you pinpointed all the crappy parts about Xenogears. Unless I'm mistaken and that wasn't you.....

I am 20 hours in and really like it. The story is good but it does drag on a bit. It seems like I can play for several hours and not get very far.

I have to say that I really like this new format as it will help me finish games.

I've been looking into this game over the past couple of days, not sure if I'll be able to grab a copy though. I wish Valkyrie Profile won the poll instead though as I need some clearer explaining on how the game works exactly. :(

I am a few hours into this game, and so far it is fun. Some elements of it don't seem great, particularly the control scheme and the menu screen, but otherwise it seems solid. Every bit as solid as I woulf expect a squaresoft release to be.
