Fallout 3

Post by ElkinFencer10 »

So I have a question. I have the basic copy of Fallout 3, but I kind of want the DLC. If I bought the GotY edition, would I have to start my game over, or could I pick up on the file I have from playing the basic version and just use the GotY disc to play the DLC?

AFAIK you could keep your progress. The main disc in the GOTY edition is the same as what comes in the basic version.

I didn't even know there was a GotY edition when I bought Fallout 3 (apparently it was out of stock at my GameStop), so I'm REALLY hoping that I can order it without having to dish out several dozen dollars to download it on PSN..

Yup, you'll be able to transfer your save. The GOTY version has a lot of bugfixes so you may have to wait for it to patch your save.

It does? Fallout 3 GOTY Edition is by far one of the most buggy PS3 games I have ever played, I'd call it close to unplayable. Froze every few hours for me guaranteed and I've heard similar complaints all over. Pretty much every Bethesda game is a buggy mess but this port in particular was a nightmare.

Maybe it's particular to ps3 version since my 360 GOTY Edition plays just fine, and the same goes for my copy of Skyrim, another Bethesda game. Both give me no trouble what-so-ever, so i have to respectfully disagree with you. Perhaps you could give the 360 versions a try??

I had a few freezing problems and other bugs, but I didn't have *too* much trouble with Fallout 3. Thanks for the help, guys. Now if anyone knows someone who has a copy of Fallout 3 GotY for sale, let me know. =P

I have that second disc somewhere but can't find it at the moment. All you do is ask someone if you can borrow the second disc that contain the DLC and throw it all on to your hard drive. Save some money if you can.

So far, as of this generation, all Bethesda games run better on 360 than PS3. Something worth noting, methinks.

But I'd suggest casterofdreams idea if you think you could do it.

Fallout 3 and New Vegas are both glitchy as hell on PC. For awhile, I was crashing every time after about 45 seconds of play. I did a few things to trick it into thinking I have a less powerful computer than I do and it helped stabilize it, but it still crashes every hour or so. Skyrim works much better.
