Usb Snes Controller?

Post by C-Sword »

Does anyone know if there's a snes-style controller that works on the ps3? I don't want anything made by Retro-Link though.

With a compatable adapter, the Madcatz Retrocon PS2 controller could work for you.

I'm very happy with mine - I bought it from oldschoolnesgamer here in the BST section and he mentioned that he has more in stock as did Chris Leach - both of them had NIB and loose when I got it.

Comments about it here at Racketboy

Edit: A little late, but I just saw another possibility in my controller pile:

Game Cube to USB

See an article on some SNES-style GCN controllers on NoiseRedux's Gameboy Player Land.

The HORI Digital pad is indeed awesome, but a more suitable option (considering you'll be using it on a PS3) is the White and Black Gamecube/Wii controllers on Deal Extreme since they have dual analog controls.
They are not too bad IMO, I've played through a few WII VC games using one of 'em and didn't notice anything too badly designed to make playing unpleasant.

There's several adapters for these available. You best bet is a newer Mayflash 3 in 1 Magic Joy Box. I don't have the new GC/Xbox/PS2 one, but my earlier model DC/PS2/Saturn adapter does work on my PS3. - Mayflash has a couble of other products too, but I can't verify if they would work on a PS3 PC051 and Super Joy Box 13.
Here's some proof that these things can work using an adapter you can't get anymore "Skillz Cube Connection USB".

There's a homebrew GC-USB adapter available at Raphnet that should be compatable too.

*Note that none of these new solutions has a "Home" button or analog on any buttons or shoulder triggers*

So-far I've only seen (several) PS2 adapters designed to adapt a wired PS2 controller to a PS3 with a "Home" button on the adapter itself.

Edit2: Reading through the OP again; Of course there's also other manufactureres of SNES-To-USB adapters. The previously mentioned Raphnet, BlissBox, and Mayflash to name a few...
