Sega Saturn disc reading issue

Post by Toonami2112x »

I just bought a modded Saturn and it is having issues reading games. It will load them fine occasionally, but then if it fails once it will repeatedly fail to even recognise them as games. I know the games are burnt fine as they have all worked before, and when it fails to read them it also fails to play music CDs (it will recognise them but play extremely fuzzy, never choppy though)

Any clue what could be causing this? Maybe a loose cord from when the mod was done? I would say a bad laser but it is acting so strange.

Thanks

Hello, I just got my chip in today. Very fast delivery! So I am also having reading issues. I have a few games ive been playing, some origonal and some backups. Before the mod genuine games ran perfectly and backups worked with swap every time. I filed the edges down a bit, plugged the ribbon in, soldered red wire to 5v and blue to 14th pin of 32 pin Saturn model 2.

Now the system starts up and plays origonal discs with the chip in but still nothing for my backups. Should I try bridging A and B first or should I send it in for a replacement? I don't have a multimeter to test conductivity, anything I can do?
