(+ not pictured Wii stuff like the excellent HOTD games, Sonic Colors, stuff I have on PC like Sonic Generations, downloadable greatness like VF5, etc.)

Seriously, they have put their name on the cover of more excellent titles (including awesome new IPs) this generation than they have since the 16-bit days. Sure there have been some turds like Golden Axe and Sonic Unleashed, but they have had a more consistent and interesting generation in terms of software than they did since like 1995 or so.
Sega used to make good games. Now all they do is publish some good games.

They are still on my shit list for killing shining force. They have made a few decent strategy shining forces recently on the handhelds but won't localize them.

Honestly, I don't hate this game as much as other people seem to - yes, it's not classic Golden Axe, but for what it is (a straight up 3D hack n slash game) it's not unplayable. If they had named it anything other than Golden Axe, it would stand as a bland, uninspired, but not horrible game. I think that if you go into it without any expectations, you'll find it more enjoyable. Also, avoid paying more than 5$ for it

Eh, I guess... but it's not like Sega even made a bunch of those. They just published. If they hadn't, someone else may have.

Sega has put out a lot of absolute garbage in the past decade, but also some pretty nice stuff (I like the Yakuza games, although I don't rate them past a 7 or 8/10).
I Love sega and really It's hard for me to get upset with them
Sega isn't a person... it is a company.

Sega made/published a lot of shoddy games post dreamcast which tarnished their name. They made/published a few good games during that era, but for every good game it seemed there was a sea of shit. That tarnished their name, and now they wonder why they can only sell games of three or four franchises with profit, and then people wonder why they don't release a dreamcast 2.

Sega really struggled for a while to get the hang of merely being a publisher. The Dreamcast was the first system on which they didn't monopolize early access to better APIs and Dev environments for a year or two before rolling them out in the dev kits to everyone else, and they did OK with that, but they did understand the hardware better simply because they designed it. In the publisher market they suddenly had to develop for systems where they didn't have the upper hand, and where the audience wasn't set up to their needs.

Yeah being a good publisher is fine, even being a good force for smaller game companies is fine. The thing that bugs me about it is that Sega used to make a lot of good games (even publish back then too). For all the stuff they've put out that a lot of people find good these days, there's not much that screams "gotta have it" for me. So for all the good stuff they've published, it may as well be just any other company putting those titles out. It's not Sega for me. Sega has been dead a long time for me (mainly after the closing of Smilebit) and y'know, as long as their former developers are putting stuff out, that's fine by me (but even that isn't happening much these days). I just don't need a faux-Sega existing simply for the sake of their name being a push to help sell games.

I miss the old Sega but the reality is that pretty much all of their development talent has either been kicked out or moved on. They're doing a better job as a publisher and there's nothing wrong with that.

It's still sad that a company that used to be such a dynamic and important developer really isn't anymore, but nothing can be done about that at this point. There's no point over crying about the death of old Sega. It's gone. It's not coming back.

Everyone here that have read my post or so much as look at my name knows that im a huge sega fan. Sure I get called a fanboy but really I don't care. Sega has had some of the best game's on any system made period mind you I love Nintendo with passion and own over 17 systems and love playing them all from coleco vision, 3do to my jaguar. Im just a huge fan of video game's period.

One thing i will say is yes Sega was a better company back in the day then they are now. They have also delt with alot of stuff and while company like Atari sadly could not stay afloat They manged to still stay around making software even after all the money they lost on the late and great Saturn and Dreamcast systems and are trying to have a real comeback and personally I think there doing very well so far Even if they had a rough road.

Phantasy star online 2 for me is showing whats most likely gonna be the best game in ten year's. So I really support them cause I know there potential and what they can do even if most of the original guys may be gone. Not to mention Sonic Generatiions alone shows me that they do know what there doing and are fully capable of being just as great as they ever would it will just take time.

But just because im a huge Sega and sonic fan does not mean Im gonna just eat up everything with there name on it. Sonic 06 for example as got to be the worst sonic game I have ever played and I have really tried hard to like it but much like the new Star Wars films it's just not gonna happen.

Point being between sonic colors, Generation, and the upcomeing phantasy star not to mention Hd remakes such as guardian hero's, Nights into dreams and now sonic adventure 2. And all the great game's there publishing.

There are lot's of reasons to be excited about what will come in there future. Sega is an easy target to pick on and there are no shortcomings of this but I can honestly say if they play there cards right and build up a ton of money as well as producing some mainstream 3rd party titles as well as there classic eccentric sega style game's That we really love. I think they can once again dominate the gaming company like they once did during the genesis days. This of course will not be done without not only support of all there fan's but also bringing in a new audience of gamer's.

I personally think Sega and Nintendo are the best gaming company's to exist and Nintendo paved the way for all of them. So when I here bickering like nintendo abandon the gamers on the wii or sega suck's it make's me laugh cause no one would be playing there Xbox or Playstation's if it were not for these company's.
