All right, gentlemen. What do we wanna do? Start a thread for the Aces compilation, or one of the originals? I was thinking about possibly starting a Raiden Fighters Jet thread, just beacuse of the crazy amount of playable ships in it; or one for Raiden ll. Lemme know, and I'll start one up later tonight.

If you did want to do one of the RF games, I would say pick one. It would be hard to keep track of all 3 games, since anyone who is palying one will be playing them all.
I have a possible trade for a RF2 board, so if you guys want to dig into taht one, I may just jump on it. I already have Raiden II, and love that game, and Raiden III, so I'd be game for either of those.
Sadly, I'd have to sit out on Jet, which stinks, as its up there with RF2.

My vote's for RF2 (if we have to pick just one) or III. III is definitely the one I've spent the most time with, but I still have difficulty clearing the default scoreboard

Man, Raiden III is so nuts. It lulls you in with stage 1 and 2, but stage 3 is just off the hook. Its a great game, but damn is it hard.sabrage wrote:My vote's for RF2 (if we have to pick just one) or III. If we are doing RF2, then I am so in, assuming I can snag this one on shmups. I think I can get Galactic Attack/Layer Section/whateverthefuck in the deal too, and start participating in that thread.

Ok, then I'd say RF 2 as well. I haven't dug into it quite as much as the 1st or Jet, but this'll give me a chance to do so. I'll pop it in a bit later, and post my score with the thread I'll throw on as well.
I've had a copy of lll for a while now, and have yet to play it.
Also, is it just me, or is lV just a total ball-breaker? That shit just seemed crazy to me.

III and IV both are total ball breakers. Moss did a great job keeping the Raiden spirit alive, but damn do they make cruel games.

IDK, I wasn't too enthralled by Layer Section; just didn't click with me . As far as the lock-on type of shmups, I like Souky much better.

ehh, this is a tricky one. seeing that it's region free makes me believe it won't be localized.noiseredux wrote:Bullet Soul is def on my list of games to get. But then again, the same could be said for any other region-free 360 shmups available.
however, i do think this would be a good XBLA shmup for the US. it's not too difficult and there are parts where you hold shot and don't even move and it's like SPECIAL BONUS! SPECIAL BONUS! SECRET BONUS! DESTRUCTION BONUS!" and you're all like "Wow! I wasn't even doing anything! I'm GR8!" I guess the way this game pats you on the back I could see appealing to a western audience
Stage 1 Batsugun comes to mindnoiseredux wrote:Are there any good underwater shmups?
I'll be the first to admit I'm a pretty mediocre shooter. I no missed the first loop, so yeah the game can be pretty easy. (bullet canceling galore)mjmjr25 wrote:^Is that game GR8 (great)?
I've heard bof (both) ways.
that being said my run last night still had me feeling good, so i like it!
the scoring lies in point blanking, which makes the game more difficult. so if you're into point blanking as a scoring mechanic then this game is for you.
honestly the biggest thing keeping me from fully endorsing the game is the $90 price tag. it's not worth the money IMO
