Forgot to mention the story. It's actually pretty good, if only a bit convoluted (the different paths don't help on making a solid narrative). The fact that we don't have an obvious villain (Kanon plays that role at first, but then we get to know more of what's really going on), and ultimately it's up for us to decided who's wrong and right was surprisingly refreshing.
I mean, it's no KotOR or Mass Effect, but for an action game from the 90's its actually better than some jRPG's.

Welp, my copy is ordered now. Should be here pretty soon!
I probably overpaid, but eh, I don't really mind.

Re: Together Retro: Guardian Heroes
I've been waiting for a reason to play this. I played the GBA sequel which is actually quite good (maybe even very good) - I think the article is slightly unfair to it.
But the original is just a classic. I favour Randy, although I really need to beef up his hitpoints at the start otherwise it can be very unforgiving to try to 1cc.
Any other Randy players: do you use the Firewall, Ice or Tornado spells? For that sort of spell I seem to rely on the lightning almost exclusively. The Firewall in particular takes a while to off, the Ice floor usually gets me frozen as well, and the Tornado move is harder to pull off - but I could use the Tornado more I think. The fireball and laser spells are good for different occasions.
Ivo.
P.S. the move sets of each character are in the options menu, in-game. No need to look them up in gamefaqs.

I never use the firewall, except by accident. I've used the Ice spell to freeze enemies when I'm getting pushed to a corner - its more useful for running than fighting. The tornado is very hard to pull off, but it's very handy for larger enemies who fly or float. Mostly I use the Lightning, Laser, Nando, & Fireballs. Plus all of his physical attacks, which he has lots of and are actually very useful.
Re: Together Retro: Guardian Heroes
Just 1cc'd story mode with Randy through a somewhat long path (spoilered).
Nando really deserves props on the 3 main boss fights!
Also I got the hang of using the Ice move. Just leave it there and stop attacking. It can be useful as the move is easy to pull off. Still see not much point in the Firewall and Tornado, although I figured out the Tornado blocks incoming attacks.

Wow, some paths are so much easier than others.
I just went through to one where the final boss was basically a powered up version of Zur. What a piece of cake!

Hey! You had a chance for input before it posted!Ivo wrote:II played the GBA sequel which is actually quite good (maybe even very good) - I think the article is slightly unfair to it.
Re: Together Retro: Guardian Heroes
There is a path which I am finding extremely difficult to 1 cc.
The final stage is full of healers and some extremely high HP golems like the one you find in the end of the Village path. The very final bosses are not too hard (the worse I met so far was the one on the path I 1 cc'd, which felt much harder). It is the stage itself here that is a nightmare.
For those who just want to 1 cc it, there is a path with Han that is really, really easy:
Sorry.
The one written on the article is a valid opinion anyway, and this is my own opinion. It's not an issue of facts and maybe I just liked the sequel more because I played it before playing the original (which is really much better).

I know, I mistakenly replied only to one of the othersdsheinem wrote:Hey! You had a chance for input before it posted!Ivo wrote:II played the GBA sequel which is actually quite good (maybe even very good) - I think the article is slightly unfair to it.
