Trust me, plenty of us are following this!

There's usually just not a lot to say though. Sometimes it's hard to see just what you're doing until it starts coming together. It's rather fascinating actually!
This.

COol, I like to update my thread, just nice to know people read it, lol!

Going to make a couple more rods tonight, tomorrow will go to a pound shop and get some cheap biros for the springs inside!

Doesn't matter how thick the slider will be in this system, as long as it works properly; in fact, my idea is to have the actual slider showing on the bottom half of the case front, and on the top half, the console logos, which will illuminate as the slider moves across; better use of space.

I might have enough space where the old switches are(were) for an Xbox, if choose to implement one, if I do, i'll need to drop one of the existing systems though as I only have space for 16 systems on the slider; if I need to drop a system it might be the GX4000; the Jaguar sucked as a console system however Wolfenstein on the Jaguar is the best version, so anyway, let's see how things develop!

Here's a good illustration of what I was meaning, the first three rods are partially made:

Had one spring from a biro, here's the good thing - it's the right size to fit as I have small rods that fit into the larger one, happens to be the ideal size for the spring! Going to buy 18 cheap biros tomorrow with the springs inside so can use those.

i think this is awesome, and i hope you get it completed without going insane, but i most protest your choice of Comic Sans on the cart labels.

Well, you got the font right, but what's the issue with the font, not a fan of it? I chose it because it didn't look too formal and also letters came out well on the small height I had to play with - fonts on Ubuntu (even with "restricted areas" installed) are limited.

Comic Sans is like the stereotypical overused font

Maybe because it looks nice?

So, here is version 2, a far better, more reliable and also faster to make method.

1* Flux and tin the end of small screw, that's head is a little smaller than the diameter of the plastic rod (so can't short against neighbour)
2* Tin thick wire and then solder the end of the screw to it
3* Cut slit into rod so wire be bent so doesn't get to the end
4* Superglue to the screw (not head!) and insert into rod
5* Bend wire back onto rod so there is about 1 cm exposed rod
6* Superglue thinner rod into the larger one
7* Cut the springs from the pens in half and then pop over the thin rod, so it gets trapped against the thicker rod (incase you're wondering, they are old DNA swab sticks, lol)
8* Cut smal piece of larger rod for end, which will be secured into place against wood, which will allow the spring to work in a controlled way

I just need to make a back-stop later do the rod doesn't fall through the holes.

4 made of the 18, won't take long to make the rest, can then mount them all.

Got that method working however would take too much force for all the springs to work, and in the process would rip apart my bare wires, so ditched that method.

Went to a variation on my first idea. Using 2mm thick metal strips, they have a little spring in the metal anyway, enough.

Superglued the strips to a piece of styrene, leaving it to dry properly overnight before moving to next stage, mounting the unit, testing for connections being ok and wiring up.
