For the same price that Castle Crashers is going to cost(supposedly), you could buy a retail release after waiting a few months for its price to drop, and you'd have an actual physical thing that you own.
I know some of you disagree, and I respect that, but I just don't want to be paying 20-30 and at some point maybe even 40 dollars for FILES. I want GAMES for that price.
This is just my opinion.

Fair enough. Everyone has to make their own judgments as to what things are worth to them. I'll just agree to disagree.
ANN EEE WAAAY .....
Seriously, let's figure out a night to play CC together. I'm having three buds over to play it locally sometime over the weekend, but I'm all for Wed or Thurs night of that week or even on the weekend. I'll be free to hop online at least one of the weekend nights.

You've got to get Gold before you go and get all depressed on me!Doctor Fugue wrote:Ahhh, I hadn't heard that about the animation.ZenLogikos wrote:I'm a huge Street Fighter fan, and shared the same opinion until I started playing the beta. The HD makeover is great, but it makes the fact that there are so few frames of animation all the more noticeable. The combat is so refined that I'll definitely be buying it, but I'm not as excited as I once was.Doctor Fugue wrote:Don't tell Capcom or Microsoft...but I'm willing to spend 60 bucks on this, probably more.![]()
I'm sad that you are a big SF fan, because I thought maybe this was the one game where I could beat you!

I haven't even loaded up the game since March. I totally forgot about maintaining score in those modes! Another friend recently bested my high in the main mode, so I guess it's about time to get back into it...but so much coming out this month!!! Damn. Good problem to have I guess.RadarScope1 wrote:Doctor Fugue wrote:I'm sad that you are a big SF fan, because I thought maybe this was the one game where I could beat you!![]()

I'm still trying to beat his Pac-Man CE score after months of near-daily play. Got him beat in all the other five modes, however. Zen has the skills.

I guess I agree with that sentiment, but I think my limit for that kind of thing would be ~$20, which is why I wouldn't hesitate on any of these upcoming games, based upon price at least.Gamerforlife wrote:Here's the thing, if they're going to keep raising praises, then hell why not just make them major retail releases? I got some pretty good ones in there! I'm in the top 1000 in all modes except for Extra 2, and I was just inside it when I got my hi score, but have since fallen to about No. 1030 or so. Challenge 2 is my best, which is funny because I hate that one but got a lucky run on it. Just got a new one-try hi on Extra 3 last night (that and Champ are my faves). But it's Champ that I play daily.ZenLogikos wrote:I haven't even loaded up the game since March. I totally forgot about maintaining score in those modes! I've only recently realized just how important the early going is and I've gone back and re-tooled my first six or seven patterns. I shoot for 65k-70k in the first minute. It's actually kind of a fucking curse because three quarters of the time I just restart after a minute. It's almost ruined it for me ..... but not quite.

Oh yeah, restarting is definitely a fact of life. I appreciate those games which make that process easier and quicker. I'll have to go back and look, but I recall only liking 2-3 of the other mazes, aside from the Champ. I hate the one in the dark. I love the purple one that is a bunch of horizontal lanes, all while the speed is increased.RadarScope1 wrote:I got some pretty good ones in there! So anyone here download Braid yet, and do you feel it's worth the price? Also, what's up with the Mario imitation? Apparently there are piranha plants coming out of green pipes and there's even a guy who says "The princess is in another castle".
What's the deal with all those references? Is it just an homage?

I have and I do. There are plenty of Mario references, but with time manipulation, the game plays much differently.
Braid is an homage, but it tries to be more sophisticated in it's approach to the story. While not unique in movies or books, it's refreshing and unique for a videogame, and I'd enjoy seeing more like it.
Certainly not every videogame need call to mind "art", but this one does and I love it.
