What Anime are you Currently Watching?/Anime Recommendations
Re: What Anime are you Currently Watching?/Anime Recommendat
Yeah that's what my friends have been wishing for for years... a true adaptation that sticks to the manga. I'm pretty interested myself.
Re: What Anime are you Currently Watching?/Anime Recommendat
Assuming it does stick to the original source material:
Sticks to the manga + Updated visuals + Simultaneous Worldwide release = Awesome
And if it does well maybe someone will finally license season 5 and I can complete my friggin' collection

I have one of the hks of season five. Its not too bad. Subs are ok, but its a rip of a laser disc so visuals are only so so.
I think if this has some success then perhaps we can get rereleases of the other seasons. The 100+ asking prices for all of the R1 sets of seasons 1-4 are pretty outrageous.
I dont even care that my season two box set will drop in value like a rock, i just want the other seasons at some kind of reasonable rate again.

I just wrapped up Steins Gate, watched like over half of it today. Pretty addicting.
The first half had me insanely perplexed... but the second half was pretty amazing. While I think the first half could have been different, I can't exactly fault it either. If this was another modern ~12 episode series instead, the emotional impact wouldn't have been there at all. So the first half did serve its purpose, as goofy and grating as it was at times.
Probably not for everyone and it's not exactly what I expected at all, but pretty cool nonetheless.

Steins;Gate is easily one of the best series I have seen in years.Xeogred wrote:I just wrapped up Steins Gate, watched like over half of it today. Pretty addicting.

As for me, I started a bunch of new series.
Episode 1 of Binbougami ga! was pretty fun. Girl with all the fortune vs God of misfortune.
Episode 1 of Dog Days season 2 was... okay. I still need to watch season 1. This series looks incredibly stupid, but that does not mean that I won't like it.
I watched the first Macross Frontier movie which supposedly is a retelling of the TV series. It seems to leave a lot of information so I will have to watch the TV series sometime. Still, very nice art and animation. Top notch.
Watched episode 1 of Tari Tari. Seemed alright so far. PA Works has a way of making series I don't like. Or don't like enough to finish. The only series I have made it through from them is Angel Beats! And it's hard to even call Angel Beats! good. Kind of terrible yet addictive at the same time. Angel Beats! ends well. I will give it that much.
Episode 1 of Acchi Kocchi. Seemed alright but forgettable. Looks to be a romcom.
I definitely watched the first episode of some other new series as well. Just can't remember what..

I just finished the first Blu-Ray of Madoka Magica. The show is living up to expectations so far, I'm liking it! I'm trying to marathon through it by the time I go to Connecticon this weekend so I won't have it spoiled.

Madoka surpasses expectations, IMO. Although I find Madoka's character annoying, the series is great. I've seen it about 3 times now. And I got all the LE Blu Rays.Nemoide wrote:I just finished the first Blu-Ray of Madoka Magica. The show is living up to expectations so far, I'm liking it! I recently finished Steins gate too and its definitely one of my favorite anime ever. I'm gonna try to read the mangas too one of these days.ZenErik wrote:Steins;Gate is easily one of the best series I have seen in years.Xeogred wrote:I just wrapped up Steins Gate, watched like over half of it today. Does anyone here watch Kyoukai senjou no horizon? Season 2 just started and I was wondering what other people think of the first episode. I think its worth a watch if your looking for a series with a surprisingly deep plot and a large cast of characters.

Have you played the visual novel? That is the original source. I have yet to play it. Just been sitting on my hard drive for a year.Godot102 wrote: I recently finished Steins gate too and its definitely one of my favorite anime ever. I'm gonna try to read the mangas too one of these days.

Finished it in a marathon whirlwind. It's so amazing. I'd say it surpassed my expectations, which is saying a lot because they were pretty high!ZenErik wrote:Madoka surpasses expectations, IMO. Part of me wants the LE discs, but man, they're just too expensive for me.
