I saw the comments about Black Hole and the difficulty of that table... what are your scores so far?
My scores:
252, 140 on my 360 Pinball Arcade
576,730 on the Wii version of the Gottlieb Collection
I'm on XBL, otherwise I'd have sent a friend request or whatever Sony calls them by now so I could just look online. And yes... STILL waiting for BoP and MM.
I had to start up the Wii to look up my high score, so I played a quick Black Hole while I was there. The ball physics are so very different from then to now on the very same table - in a good way. They did a great job of improving the table. (Obviously the graphics are way better in HD, too.)
The improvements have me very excited for Medieval Madness. I spent my fair share of time playing that table on the Wii. It should be fun to revisit on the 360.
Unrelated to Black Hole, but I should have a 1980 Stern Galaxy in my house by the end of July. Crossing my fingers! I hope FarSight has some classic Sterns on their list of future releases.

I never worked out the max score and such, but I agree with Ivo that the Pokemon Pinball is top notch. I'm not as skilled at the game to collect all the extra balls, but it has wonderful flow, and it was the first ever Pokemon game I ever played. I finally understood why all these kids felt the need to "catch them all."Ivo wrote:This is not a good game for high score comparisonsalienjesus wrote:I've been playing a lot of Pokémon Pinball on GBA lately, I don't suppose anyone else has that and wants to compare high scores?
...
Don't get me wrong, I love the game, I think the tables are very well designed and the game engine is possibly the best among GBA pinball games.
I'll bite for scores:
Ruby- 181,650,100
Sapphire- 85,053,050

Re: Video Pinball
Did Farsight do any work on those Wii comps (I believe Crave put them out)? I know the xbox 360 of the Williams collection is pretty pricey. Are the Wii versions any good? I wouldn't mind stashing those.
Re: Video Pinball
I was not aware it was expensive. I picked it up when it was released because I had already played it so much on the Wii that I knew it would be excellent on the 360 - and it had more tables.retrosportsgamer wrote:Did Farsight do any work on those Wii comps (I believe Crave put them out)? I've got Williams on PS2, 360 and Wii
I own Gottlieb on PS2, Gamecube, oXbox, and Wii.
They all run the Crave and FarSight animations at startup.
The Williams version on Wii is how I learned about rules, the names of the different features, and generally how to play. It's what prompted me to buy real pinball tables.
You use the Wiimote and nun-chuck. The flippers are controlled by the triggers - so totally natural if you've played on any current gen PS3 or 360. You plunge with the analog stick on the nun-chuck, which was briefly counter-intuitive for me. (I hold the nun-chuck in my left hand, but plunge with my right on any standard real world table.)
You nudge the pin by shaking the nun-chuck and Wiimote together. I really like the physical nature of the nudge mechanic. It makes the simulation seem very natural, especially since your hands can be held at a distance further apart due to the cord between Wiimote and nun-chuck.
This is only true for the Williams collection since the nudge mechanic is super-sensitive (broken) on all versions of the Gottlieb collection. Try to bump Black Hole on the Wii version and you'll tilt 4 out of 5 times.
I played just a little bit on the Wii last night. After grinding on Black Hole for over an hour on the 360, the Wii version felt slower and kind of floaty. But like any game, you can acclimate to it. I spoke with the FarSight guys at the Texas Pinball Festival in March, and they tweak the gravity for every table that they are re-releasing. That would account for gameplay improvements.
You can get the Wii Williams version pretty cheap in the used bins. I've only seen the Gottlieb maybe once in a used bin, so it might run more. I'd grab them, but I'm trying to grab all video pinball games like DSH.

^ Thanks cowboy
I noted in reviews for the 3DS version that things ran pretty slow (maybe 30 FPS) and the lighting was pretty dark. I didn't like Zen Pinball for the handheld ever (it was "ok") - most likely a personal preference thing.
