Need Help With Xbox 1 (C3G9 Capacitor)

Post by RazorX »

hi can someone help me ive got a damaged xbox 1 ive had for a while but i recently took it out to have another look and it seems like the C3G9 capacitor has come off i think this was when i had a xbox extender on it and then when i removed it the capacitor must have come off now the xbox doesnt come on i just get orange and red lights. ive tryed to bridge the points and got it to show the flubber screen for a sec but there isnt much to solder onto is there any alternative points i can bridge or any other way to fix this.

Wow, that grammar. I don't honestly think I can help you but, could you clean up your post a bit so that someone who can will be able to help you?

My apologies if English isn't your native language.

Good God I hate posts that look like Cell Phone Texting. Tried to fix the wall of text with spelling, periods, commas, capitals and a paragraph break.

I think this was the Xbox I had an extender on because I have had a few Xboxs. I think when removing it, the capacitor came off. Now the Xbox does not come on. It powers on then off then on again with orange and red lights. I have tried to bridge the points and got it to show the flubber screen for a sec but there is not much to solder onto. Is there any alternative points I can bridge or any other way to fix this.
PLEASE POST A PIC of the insides showing the damage. Need some more clarity on what exact "Extender" you mean. From what you described maybe you can follow the traces to solder jumper wires?

Replace the capacitor with the same kind that was there before. I'm not sure why this is even a question. If some component goes missing you can't just expect to jumper the points and have everything work without it.

I read the text as the capacitor came off and RazorX was having difficulties in soldering back to the original spot due to damage. Agree, if a part is missing just replace it with the same thing.

A picture sure would help here ...........

You know what else doesn't help you with your problems? Being rude to those trying to help you. Please be nice, we're just trying to help.

Have a nice day, and good luck.

PS: Bad grammar doesn't help your problems either.

i am very tired after working all day and i didnt realise i made some mistakes and as for the other comments about replacing the capacitor i understand that the problem is there is no solder on the points and nothing really to solder on too so if its possible i need some alternative solder points to solder a capacitor on or some wire leading to a capacitor i buy if there far apart.

i got this image off google it shows you were you add the wire for the xtender its that capacitor thats gone.

The board is multi-layer so the traces are probably sandwiched inside or they could go through to the other side. Short of having a PCB diagram showing where it goes or spending a lot of time checking continuity and then for near zero resistance, I'm not sure how you're going to find an alternative point.

yeah thought so i will just have to try to solder some thin wire to the points if i can then solder the resistor to the wire, test it and if it works hot glue them in place and tape everything down
