Romantic sex doesn't work in video games (NSFW-ish)

As for accurate sexual simulation, I remember seeing a documentary in the 90s called Synthetic Pleasures. They had a scene about sex technologies and there was some research being done into using robotics to have sex over the internet. I have never seen anything about it since, but the idea was that you would chat with someone online, and you would be able to each remotely control sex toys that would activate on the other person over the internet. For example, I might have a glove that senses movement, and my partner might have a robotic hand on her breast that mimics my movements as they are transmitted over the interent. If this tech were to improve, you could theoretically have sex with someone else via robotic avatars.

Part of the American problem, I believe, has to do with the fact that we automatically associate nudity with sex. From those few actual Europeans I've been around, nudity was a much more open thing for them, while "sexy" lingerie made them more (though hardly at all) uncomfortable.

Honestly, romantic sex is an idea that only happens on extreme rare occasions, if at all. Movies especially try to sell the idea, but I've seen more loving and realistic scenes in horror movies and porn than I have on most "love movies".

Shenmue's pretty neat to me. I imagine if you're the type of gamer that can't stand stuff like Animal Crossing or Harvest Moon, Shenmue will be nothing but an absolute bore-fest for you though.

And thought you were referring to the lowest point's in gaming to be FMV and QTE, thus why I put Shenmue up because QTE's were a big part of the game, and quite frankly pretty fun if you don't fuck the sequences up a lot. I especially liked the QTE arcade machines in the game. I was gonna put an FMV game up like I did for Shenmue, but I couldn't think of a really good one, just mediocre ones, and agreed that it was a low point for gaming.

Oh well. Misunderstanding is all. But yeah, GoW's sex minigame, RapeLay, and FMV's were low points of gaming. Sorta back on topic, but does anyone know if the Hot Coffee mod for one of the GTA games used QTE?

How could you say that? Shenmue is excellent! I mean like AppleQueso said, if you aren't very patient and can't stand slow moving/and or not extremely exciting games, then Shenmue will most likely bore you at first. But like many RPG's, it picks up and gets fun and great. The only crimes Shenmue committed was the voice acting and repetition, which all can be summed up in three lines:

"Have you seen any sailors?" (asked multiple times on the first disc)
"No, I can't say I have Ryo" (differing variations, but the same message for the most part, your lucky if they ask why do you ask or to not get involved with sailors)
"I see" (Ryo's response. To. EVERYTHING.)

Well those two, and probably more minor problems, but those two are the only ones that are detrimental to the experience IMO. Well that and the cliffhanger.
