Which GBA games used a battery for saves?
I believe Metroid Fusion and Castlevania: Circle of the Moon did. Anything else?
Re: Which GBA games used a battery for saves?
I remember back in the day most of my GBA games had the save feature, maybe only one or two actually used password saves.
All the main series pokemon games had them, all the super mario advance games had them, the DKC re-release had it, Spyro Season of Fire/Ice, Spyro Orange:/Crash Bandicoot Purple: The Cortex Conspiracy/Ripto's Rampage, and I know a whole lot more mainstream games did too, I just can't think of them off the top of my head.

Oh I'm trying to think of games that specifically used a battery for the save feature, as opposed to flash memory.

Ohh okay. I'm pretty sure the pokemon games used them though, or at least ruby and sapphire, I have a friend who told me he had some sort of save problem with his ruby cart, but since I've sold my pokemon games to a local gamestop long ago (not my finest hour) I can't really tell you for sure. I can open my remaining gba carts though and check.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Oh I'm trying to think of games that specifically used a battery for the save feature, as opposed to flash memory.
EDIT: After screwing around with a straight slot screwdriver and the weird tri head screw, I got them open and it seems all the Super Mario Advance carts use flash memory. Idk if that helps you any.

Don't quote me on this, but I've been told multiple times that the original run of Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral town uses one, while the later runs don't.
Again, don't quote me on this.

Kirby Nightmare in Dreamland, Castlevania Circle of the Moon, Metroid Fusion, and Metroid Zero Mission (not for resale, at least) use batteries.

Interesting. Sounds like mostly launch titles and 1st party Nintendo games then.

There might be more, those are just ones I know for certain at the moment.

I just opened up some of mine, I had no idea so many GBA games used flash memory - I assumed batteries were the norm for all cartridges that had save options.

Yeah most GBA games don't have batteries.
Most N64 carts don't either for that matter. Either they use flash memory and/or save to the memory card (controller pak). Someone made a list of all the N64 save methods per game, but I don't think such a list exists for the GBA.
