I saw the first two or three episodes I believe, and then just kind of lost track of the show. I might be interested in getting back into it. I think I enjoy shows with a little bit of action, which may be why Mad Men isn't doing anything for me. Nothing really happens on Mad Men. It's just kind of a big, old soap opera, with people just being angsty over relationship issues. I don't know if that's a show for meForlorn Drifter wrote:Hell on Wheels. Watch it. It's a good 'un. Only the first season, but deffinitely one that I would always recomend. It also happens to be one of the better showings of life soon after the civil war, showing the flaws of both sides and dealing with the still rampant racism of the time.Gamerforlife wrote:Oh yeah, I'm also about five or so episodes into Mad Men season 1. It's a good show, but still hasn't quite hooked me yet. Certainly not as interesting to me as other AMC programs like Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead.
So what have you guys been watching lately?

Episode 14 - Shock and Awe was hilarious. I had some real good laughs with this one.gtmtnbiker wrote:Looks like I'm starting to get into Arrested Development. Enjoyed episode 9 "Stormin The Castle". Episode 10 "Pier Pressure" was hilarious with the focus on the guy with the prosthetic arm.
Caged Wisdom was great.
Gob sleeping with Nazhgalia.
George Sr fondling his admirer through the fence.
Good stuff....

I enjoyed Mad Men but I have to agree with you that it's like a soap opera. It's kind of hard to top a show that you just finished that is really good (Breaking Bad).Gamerforlife wrote: I saw the first two or three episodes I believe, and then just kind of lost track of the show. Yeah, I like when a show has some kind of stakes to it. In what I've seen of Mad Men so far, it's like nothing happening on that show matters. It's just people dealing with whatever dumb personal issues they have. Compared to something like Breaking Bad where you've got characters trying to stay alive or avoid prison, or Friday Night Lights where winning or losing a football game affects the whole town or Nikita where you've got a woman trying to bring down a clandestine criminal organization. In Mad Men, it's like. Wow, is some random guy going to bang that girl or not? Tune in next episode to find out. I just feel like, who cares? I just need that show to give me something to be invested in and it hasn't from what I've seen so far

I also haven't really found a character to latch onto to, as I'm finding all of the characters on Mad Men to be rather unlikable. So as I'm watching I feel like, I don't like or care about any of these people. Why am I watching this?

In the beginning, I didn't care for Pete Campbell but I grew to like him. Sterling is great. I also like Peggy and how she is trying to be successful in a man's world.Gamerforlife wrote:I also haven't really found a character to latch onto to, as I'm finding all of the characters on Mad Men to be rather unlikable. The show is mostly about relationships so if you're not into that sort of thing, you're not going to like it. I do like how the sets/news accurately reflect the times.

Tried watching the first episode of The Wire, stopped halfway through. I couldn't figure out what the hell was being said half the time or what was going on or even who people were. I don't think I get the show's lingo, and I really find it annoying how every other word out of every character's mouth has to be an F bomb. C'mon. Nobody really talks like that in real life. Jesus. It's feels so ridiculously exaggerated for TV. I feel like I got tossed into an ocean and told to sink or swim with this first episode. I'm going to try and watch it again later today and give it another chance, but it did not appeal to me at all compared to Breaking Bad which had me with its first episode.

Yeah I hear you with the language. I am pretty uptight when it comes to language and even I thought this show is one of the best ever. In my opinion also, this show has one of the best uses of the f-word ever, when they have an entire scene using only the f-word. It's like those beer commercials they had where all they said was "dude." It made me laugh.Gamerforlife wrote:Tried watching the first episode of The Wire, stopped halfway through. The Wire is incredible.
Getting back into News Radio. It wasn't adding Lovitz that really changed the show, it was the loss of Phil. You can actually see an emotional and physical drain on the cast; it lost its character.
Watching episodes back to back (they made some great casting decisions after the pilot) the goofy and sexiness of the show ramps up every season. The girls keep wearing less, Andy Dick falls over just a tad more than usual.
Fun show though. Always enjoyed it.

You might want to watch it with subtitles. Some of the cop lingo can be hard to pick up.Gamerforlife wrote:Tried watching the first episode of The Wire, stopped halfway through. I couldn't figure out what the hell was being said half the time or what was going on or even who people were.
