Can we get a co-sotm?[/quote]

Don't start :P I'm glad Metal Black held on last month.

I'll be digging in later tonight. Ready for my usual 5th placing  Just because Treasure worked on Axelay as Konami doesn't give me any advantage

Although I must say, doing the research for this month's write up was a real good time. Seeing all the new ideas put into this game really left me quite impressed. I really do feel it's a bridge between 2 generations/types of shmup.

200K is a good score? Good to know (it worked for Metal Black, it will here too!)

Truly the thinking man's shmup here it looks like. Just have to remember everything to pass the test

noiseredux wrote:First impression: shit! This game's hard. Feels similar to Ikaruga of course. I can't make it very far yet, just getting the hang of everything. I feel like the ship moves a little slow. But it looks like a great game ultimately. And the music is pretty fucking awesome.
You'll prob improve survival and score the first 20 times you play, seriously, figuring out when to switch weapons, use the sword, enemy patterns, etc.

I prob haven't played in a year, first couple runs only made mid stage 2, now i'm hitting 4 steady.

The ship, yeah, it feels like your holding turbo shot in Deathsmiles or something, you let go and expect to move faster...but you don't. But really, it's appropriate for this game and the more you play, the more "right" it feels - and by the time you hit the middle of stage 2 and the closing walls, and then the thin diagonal walls, and then the confined stage 3 boss fight, you'll gladly sacrifice speed for the enhanced control.

Yes, great music in this game.

hahaha yes! I seriously did that multiple times. "Oh shit, I need to dodge that! (let's go of shot button and moves the same speed) FUCK!"

See this part:

I've only successfully weaved thru that once so far. :\

But I'm beating the first level without losing a life. And I know I'll get the hang of that fire pattern in the picture, as it's actually not as tough looking as the pattern in the first boss battle of Hitogata Happa.

I think my main issue right now is figuring out my own hitbox. I've been playing sooooo much Deathsmiles and am slightly used to that tiny little cluster of pixels that make a heart.

I still die there 25% of the time. I have better luck on the edges in that pattern. If you can time your big sword attack to be charged up right there, you can take out at least one, maybe all 3 of the ships causing that chaos.

I know you earn points gracing bullets, but when you get to that part just fire 2 spread shots (C button) from towards the top center, right when they just begin to scroll into view. They'll be dead before they release too many bullets. After they die, concentrate your homing spread on the center enemy. You'll have to do some weaving, but it is very minimal.

I take it rules for RSG are arcade mode, all default settings, one credit, right?

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.
Consoles: I have too much stuff
Arcade: No seriously, I have too much stuff. Someone grab a shovel and dig me out of my basement.

sick. So right off the bat there's some serious strategy in this game then, eh? :D
