Dreamcast mod and a question...

Post by xxstatic »

So I have a total of 7 Dreamcast's...yes kind of excessive but for some reason when I offer to buy someones games or peripherals they almost always tell me "take the whole lot"...so enough on that, I wanted to make my own custom DC for a long time but afraid to as I am artistically challenged... and I am a huge Iron Man fan so I came up with the idea...The Dreamcast Mark VII edition The Silver Centurion... :D

Without further adieu...

Krylon Fusion red...with metallic trim...

I am not quite done with the painting but I got impatient on the color matching so I gently put it together a little bit... :)

The question I have is: Is anyone familiar with modding the LED in the DC? I would like to replace it with a blue/white LED much like the color of the Arc Reactor from the movies or the comic books original look:

Any help in pointing me to the right LED would be appreciated. :D

Mark I approves.... :)

Nice! Sweet job man! The color scheme on your controller reminds me of the original DC prototype controller pics that were shown before the console release. It was in that similar color scheme!

Thanks,

I did a quick search and came up with this:

And another pic,

I had not seen any prototypes before, round start button on the controller as well, it almost looks like the LCD crystal is bigger on the console.

Cool stuff. 8)

For the LED Swap, any standard 5mm LED should work fine. I use NTE LED's, and have a blue one in my DC right now. It's a pretty quick and easy swap, just make sure to look through the LED to see what way it's mounted since they are directionally specific when it comes to current flow. one post will lead to a 'larger' mass inside the LED, just match that so you don't technically have to worry about which one is anode/cathode.

These should work for blue or white, respectively:

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.
Consoles: I have too much stuff
Arcade: No seriously, I have too much stuff. Someone grab a shovel and dig me out of my basement.
