The VGA box has an auxiliary out (I said "input" by accident on my previous post) and you can use an audio adapter like a 3.5mm Stereo Male To 2 RCA Male...Spyke wrote:If I use the VGA box to connct via vga cable to monitor, can I still use the AV stereo outputs to connect to my stereo? Or, is the only stereo output via the 3.5mm jack, and if so I presume that works in addition to the VGA visual output?
Thanks,
Ant

I haven't tried it yet, although I believe you can only use one side (VGA/S-Video) at a time. There is a PC/TV switch on the VGA Box; PC for VGA cable and TV for S-video and composite. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong...

Monoprice is the place to get a whole pile of cheap cables. I am a sucker for Monoprice. What usually happens is I need 2 cables of a particular sort and end up buying a stack of 7 or 8. Not that I've even used half of my Monoprice hoard.
On second thought, don't buy any cables from Monoprice. You'll end up with more than you know what to do with...

Cool - I've got a 3.5mm to phono jack adapter in my "box of bits" so I'll be sorted!

I still like the Blaze (and to some extent, the similarly designed NAKI) adapter -- they had two 3.5mm jacks, one of which had a volume knob which meant you didn't have to buy an external one from RadioShack if you wanted to attach headphones and not blow out your eardrums.
My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.
Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.

I use my headphone amp, the iBasso Audio D-Zero, with my Dreamcast and I have been content with it so far. I also use it to listen to music with my headphones.pakopako wrote:I still like the Blaze (and to some extent, the similarly designed NAKI) adapter -- they had two 3.5mm jacks, one of which had a volume knob which meant you didn't have to buy an external one from RadioShack if you wanted to attach headphones and not blow out your eardrums.

Huh... your description sounds exactly like the "Gameware Madness VGA Adapter". I don't like the NAKI VGA Box very much. Its design is a bit too bulky and the toggle switch to go from VGA to AV/Svid is too tiny and over time gets prone to getting stuck.I still like the Blaze (and to some extent, the similarly designed NAKI) adapter -- they had two 3.5mm jacks, one of which had a volume knob which meant you didn't have to buy an external one from RadioShack if you wanted to attach headphones and not blow out your eardrums
Best VGA accesssory is "Cabou's" VGA cable from France. Incredible craftsmanship!

Thank you for this thread!
I'm new to the DC VGA scene (been a Dreamcast kid since launch), I got a DC VGA box in a lot that only cost me $30 and also came with EMS total control to use Playstation controllers on my DC. It's amazing for 2D fighters! glad to hear there was a fix for the GGX issue not displaying in VGA, my "backup" version works just fine, but my legit Japanese copy wouldn't display an image with Utopia. Glad that after all these years, the DC still gets lots of love! I've been a SegaBoy since I got my Genesis. The only issue with the "backup" version is that the music was cut out. You can't play that game properly without the awesome soundtrack!
