Steam Summer Sale Achievements

I sometimes try and get some of the sale achievements, but they appear so pointless. It's okay that they're trying to engage the community, it's just that we get them and then nothing happens. We are left in the vain hope of winning, somehow, the entire Steam catalog.

I guess that depends. Last summer I got the Summer Shades for TF2, The Lonely Cruise map for Magicka, and the 63 Corvi mission for SpaceChem. During the holiday sale I got Dota 2 beta access, Half-Life 2 + Lost Coast (I already had Half-Life 2, but not Lost Coast), and Left 4 Dead 2 (which I already had). So I guess I didn't get anything amazing, but I did get some nice free DLC and games, so it was worth it IMO.

You know, it's entirely possible that there won't be a Steam summer sale. I mean, it is pretty late in the game, so I wouldn't be surprised if they skipped it this year.

Yeah, I was wondering what happened here. With 220+ games in my Steam library it's no skin off my buns.

A rumor going around is that Valve is going to tie in with the Olympics and make it an Olympic Theme sale.

All the rumors Ive read are pointing to next Thursday as the start date. In the past it was around 4th of July, but not always. The rumors are mostly companies moving release dates back and forward around the week for "unspecified reasons".
