Let's have a western animation thread

So I got the first part of season one of Thundercats as a graduation present from my mom. I can't wait to watch it again since I haven't seen the original in a long time. Next to DBZ and the 90s animated Batman, it was my favorite show growing up. Also I haven't seen much of the reboot, does it do the series any justice?

I saw a few episodes. I'd say it's better, but not by a wide margin. Basically, it just looks a lot better. Cheap, 80s animation versus slick, modern, japanese anime aesthetics. Storywise, it's only slightly more sophisticated than the original

By today's standards, I wouldn't say it's a great cartoon, but it does have a lot of fan service for fans of the original. So you'll probably enjoy it. I think BurningDoom is a big fan last I heard.

That's good to know. I think I'm going to like the original more mostly based on nostalgia but I'll enjoy both nonetheless. Thundercats, HO!

Watched a show called Motorcity today. It was pretty good. It was this carsploitation cartoon with somewhat lanky character models, insane cars, and a metal soundtrack. It had this whole, apocalypse car in some kind of Detroit with neon lights and metal and stuff.

I just checked out the first episode of Space Ghoast Coast to Coast, not sure yet should I DL and watch it. Seems kinda like the western animation equivalent of Tim and Eric so far, with the awkward and weird randomness... not saying that it's a bad thing, but that sort of humor is a hit/miss sort of thing in my opinnion, either it's not funny at all or brilliant. Are the rest of the episodes like that too? Any opinnions on the series?

First several episodes are just kinda strange and awkward. It takes a bit for the series to find its stride.

Try watching something from later in it.

Disc 2 of Volume 1 is where it picks up, and it doesn't let up after that. I suppose you could compare the humor style to Tim & Eric, but it feels more to me like something the MST3K people would put out. Totally love that show.

I always liked Cartoon Planet. I think that was it's name. it was the Space Ghost show with Brak in it. That one was even more bizarre than Coast to Coast.

I can't agree with that comparison. I so incredibly despise the Tim and Eric Show, but I loved Space Ghost Coast-to-Coast. Although I haven't seen it since it was aired in the 90s, maybe it's time I watch it again.

Anybody ever heard of The Maxx? It's a story about a man who lives in two worlds. The first is our own world, in which he's a homeless bum who lives in a cardboard box. However, in the dream world (a bizarre, pseudo prehistoric world with strange creatures) he's a fierce warrior and protector of the Jungle Queen. the story is about how each of these worlds overlap and their relationship to each other and the characters.

It caught my attention on IMDb and I started watching it recently. I have to say, I'm enjoying it thoroughly so far. It has really nice touches of tragedy, black comedy, and style. The animation is good, although it gets sparse at times (I'm guessing from a low budget). I'm worried that it's going to leave me hanging storywise though, only 13 episodes were produced and they're each only about 11 minutes long.

No kidding, I finished it last night. I knew that a lot of the characters and entities in the show probably had some greater meaning, but I was genuinely impressed with how symbolic and compelling the story became. It really is a shame that it had to be such an abbreviated series, but I am grateful that we got what we did.
