So out of all the utterly insane characters in Eva, you like the one of the most selfish ones, that wants to have sex with her father and children, the most. haha. Personally my favorites were Rei and Gendo.

I do agree though, Misato was an awesome character. Despite the (intentionally) heavily flawed cast, they all come off as charming and enjoyable in a sick kind of way regardless. There are plenty of laughable and stupid moments in the series, but just overall, like you kind of said, everything works and it's just one of a kind.

Sorry if I was unclear... I'm going to watch the series again, I haven't watched it in about a year and a half. I picked up these director's cut DVDs of the final episodes and I don't want to watch them yet since it's been so long since I've watched anything Evangelion related. Here are the DVDs:

Resurrection
Genesis Reborn

No idea how much they differ from the original aired episodes.

It's little moments like that that I think are just too hilarious to take seriously, but I know one of my friends loves those weird moments in the series, haha.
Are you thinking of the part where Ode to Joy plays? That's my favorite part of the entire series.

Misato = best character.

I'm watching Simoun and I don't know what to make of it. It's equally fascinating and disturbing. The aesthetics are also pretty strange for me - the music and backgrounds are gorgeous but many of the character designs are ugly. The pink-haired main character is especially...
Image
Yeah. The animation and body language is also really strange, and the blonde one is the only one with a definite sense of shape or motion (and she's the newcomer).

The rest are hard to watch. On the other hand, the ship designs are really creative.
Image
Cool or just too much? Who knows.

So far, all the main characters are female. Nothing manly in sight - all the males look and sound like females unless they're in static backgrounds, in which case they're old, gray, and have five o'clock shadow. The plot is traditional but all the details are completely contrived - for example, in order to pilot their aircraft, the two female pilots have to kiss. That's right, aircraft powered by kisses, and no men allowed! So far, no reason has been given except fanservice.

I guess I'll keep watching and see where it goes.

Misato = best character.
Yep, that's the song. lol

@bruno: Yeah I was this close to putting "for the most part" at the end of my Misato comment there. Haha, she had her issues and quirks too. But yeah good stuff and I like her VA a lot. Rei might be my second choice.

Shinji was the worst in the dub though... damn, most annoying thing I've ever seen. Way more tolerable in Japanese, but still one of my least favorite main characters. That said he doesn't bring the show down for me or anything now... just, not anyone I like that much. But he fits the role.

I like how Kaworu is in one episode (I'm pretty sure. Was he in EoE though? Can't remember...) and he has such a big fanbase, merchandise, just all that jazz for one episode. But heck, he was pretty cool. Kind of like Krelian from Xenogears or something. Just completely ... out there.

I think Infinite Ryvius is a show I'll have to rewatch like once a year. Any fans? I kind of compare it to Eva in that, I don't really like most of the characters, but the actual plot and atmosphere is really amazing. It's the most "claustrophobic" show I've ever seen, with the whole thing taking place on this big ship. Lord of the Flies in space basically, definitely one of my absolute favorites.

I never got into Simoun. I watched the first couple of episodes when it came out and it just... didn't click for me. People were saying such nice things about it at the time, it was getting some good reviews, and I wanted to like it, I really did, but the whole thing just wasn't working for me.

I did read the manga version though. It's only one volume and a hellova lot more condensed, but I enjoyed it more than the couple episodes I watched.

Coincidentally, Strawberry Panic! came out at the same time as Simoun, so that particular new-anime-watching-season was saved for me :)

In other news, I watch Project A-ko 3: Cinderella Rhapsody last night. Another VHS only dub release, but it doesn't look like it was ever released on DVD so I won't worry about it (Also, HOLY S*&!. WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO MAKE IT GO UP THAT MUCH IN TWO DAYS!.)

The first thing I noticed was that my tape says, "FOR SCREENING PURPOSES ONLY" on a generic white label without the U.S. Manga Corps logo. I really didn't think about it until the first time "FOR SCREENING PURPOSES ONLY" flashed over the top of the screen :? It does it a couple of times during the movie. It's a little frustrating.

The second thing I noticed is that they obviously switched voice actors at some point. I liked the new voices a lot better. Even C-ko's voice was tolerable. So, brownie points there.

The third thing I noticed was that they apparently went "F*@$ it" when it came to adding new songs and mercifully left the originals in and added subtitles to the bottom of the screen.

And finally, after the credits rolled I was treated to a bizarre music video of the song played during the closing credits. The female singers were in overalls and they were on a farm and there were cows and....it was all very odd :lol:

I found it on Youtube. Prepare to be wowed http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyNS_gwx1ls

Oooohhhhh looks like Love Hina ends with a three-part OVA series called Love Hina Again... I feel strangely compelled to watch this.

Just checked Amazon. It's a bit more expensive than I hoped it would be. :shock:

We seem to be having that problem a lot lately on this thread :lol:

Though I still haven't seem anyone come close to that Project A-ko collection I posted. I'm starting to think those sellers are just messing with each other. I just can't fathom that they actually think that they'll get 73-93k for a dvd set.

Has any one here watched the gun girl anime (cant recall its name right now). Basically it's an anime about girls who are incarnations of different assault rifles and their personalities reflect the unique qualities of their respective weapons, or something like that :lol:
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box
