What single player FPS campaign are you playing?

Picked up Fear3 for cheap. It's meh, but not terrible.

Feeling the same way. Seems pretty bad, I was a big fan of the others...

Most dev houses couldn't write coherent stories even if their very lives depended on it.

FEAR should have been just one game. I don't even feel we needed the expansion pack for the first game.

Those were pretty pointless, but I loved the first game so much that I enjoyed them for a single playthrough. But yeah the first game is still one of my newer FPS favorites. I enjoyed the sequel, but I can't believe how bad slow-mo was in it and other games in comparison to how the first FEAR handled it. The gunplay was utterly perfect in the first game.

I beat it on extreme along with the instant action stages too. Definitely one of the craziest gaming accomplishments for me. FEAR 2 on its hardest difficulty felt like normal from the first game.

I really enjoyed Fear; especially when it first came out. I guess it was just the time period with shifting over into next-gen. I've never played 2, but my main problem with Fear3 is that playing on a PC feels like a console. I should really just remap the buttons because I don't like how it plays. The whole arcade-points-leveling aspect really throws me off. It takes all atmosphere out. I also feel like I don't get a good way to track my progress until the end of the level.

I enjoyed the Condemned series much more. That was the same developer, right?

I guess I'll go back to playing my Serious Sam pack soon. #3 is crazy. I like the originals better.

I started up The First Encounter HD on hard mode last night... Big mistake.

I'd say all FPS's were gray and brown during FEAR's time. I wouldn't let that hold me back from a great one.

Yeah Condemned was also by Monolith. Too bad they dropped the ball on the second game though and had to explain too much of the unexplained, people with evil yelling powers caused wars and all the evil in the world. Spoilers! But shit, what a dumb as hell twist. It had its moments but turned into an FPS towards the end and the plot was atrocious. I liked the first one way more. Wish there was more games like this...but I guess Amnesia and Penumbra could probably count, I need to get on those.
