My copy of Community Season 2 doesn't work properlly on ps2

Post by GamerMON »

This is more of a rant than a please fix for me thread. My wife bought a copy of Community season 2. My wife bought it mainly for the commentaries. When we put in the ps2 various unable to read error messages appeared. We could then hit play and the episodes would load in order. From there, we tried going to the menu to get to the commentaries. Once the episode with commentaries was selected it would give another disc error. It would also give an error message if I used any ps2 buttons on the remote as opposed to the dvd buttons on the ps2 remote. I cleaned the laser and it still persisted. I busted out my Gamewave (my only other dvd reading machice I can hook up to my tv) and itseems to be working properly now.

</rant>

But seriously, does anyone know if there is any weird drm on this dvd? Or do you think my ps2 is dieing?

do your other dvds work?

Its probably just incompatible.

I doubt that they check anymore for PLAYSTATION COMPATABILITY.

Some early DVDs used to say that.

So yeah, theres probably some coding on your disc that doesnt make it work on the PS2.

Yours is probably a slim amount of all the dvds produced in the past 15 years that arent compatible.

Yeah I haven't had any problems with other dvds. I have only had this ps2 for 3 years. It is the white sing star bundle. I just don't wanna have to make room for another device on my tv.

Could just be some crappily made discs. I remember one of my Blackadder DVDs not working in my PS2 back when both were still very new. I occasionally have a DVD that looks fine but won't work in my (admittetly old) DVD player I'm currently using. Sometimes I'll just blame on the disc being used and possibly polished poorly before it came to me, though I have a promo DVD or 2 that the player refuses to recognize even though they are 'brand new' unplayed discs.

What I find really funny is the dvd's are a Sony Home Entertainment production. That's right a Sony DVD in a Sony ps2 wasn't working properly. This just seems like classic Sony.

Could be the DVDs. Could be your PS2. Try the DVDs in another device.

Your PS2 may need adjustments to the laser. The discs could be bad. The we know nothing from what you have told us.
