I can't view your wish list, as it's stored in your cookies or something. But if you guys would recommend setups using parts from Newegg that are in the $500 range, I'd appreciate that. I'm not looking to buy a monitor, mouse, keyboard, or speakers. A new PC tower is all I need.ATARI800XLfan wrote: If is just box here is one I put together from new egg for 534 that has 4 gigs of ram. Tom's Hardware is a great resource. Here's their <$500 June guide. The LGA 1155 motherboard leaves ample room for upgrading to a Core i5 or i7 down the line and the 560ti is an absolute beast.

Though I am not sure the slight increase in performance is worth the extra 40 bucks of the 560ti over a AMD 6870. Both of which would probably be out of the 500 dollar budget. or add 20 bucks to my set up listed and he could get the AMD 6850. Might want to increase the power though, might be another 20 for that so around 575 if he wanted a 6850. AMD 6770 is more then enough for the games he listed though.sabrage wrote:Tom's Hardware is a great resource. Here's their <$500 June guide. of course he could get the one I listed down another 20-30 by not adding the front fan and getting a smaller hardrive if he does not want one as big as I listed.

Re: Planning on getting new PC - tell me wat u think of this
with no front fan and a 500GB hard drive the price comes down to 512.93

Also the one that site listed for 500 only comes with a power supply big enough for just the video card. All IT people know you need to go at least 10 percent above the total amount of power needed by all the parts combined I believe(what my IT certification class said)

The Tom's guide is just a baseline... Obviously the graphics card and processor can be swapped out for lesser/higher alternatives. That said, you won't see me recommending AMD.

One of the advantages of buying the pre-built PC is that I don't have to buy the OS seperate. Last I checked, that will add about $100 to the overall price, won't it?

Here's one for $77. The website has 5 stars with 2280 ratings on Google Shopping, so I'd tentatively say it's safe.
