Planning on getting new PC - tell me wat u think of this one
Sorry about the horrid spelling in the title; I couldn't fit the same words in properly typed. Anyway, I'm tired of rocking my '07 Compaq, and now that I have an actual income (but no real responsibilities yet) I figure it's a good time to upgrade. Here's the one I'm looking at.
I'm not wanting to spend more than about $500, so for the price, what do you guys think of it? If you know of a better deal, please let me know.

Not a bad PC for the price. Though I have heard that HP uses cheaper parts to get the good price. I also recently bought a new PC Asus Essentio series CM-1730. I can run Guild wars 2 and Star Trek online with it. Uses a HD 3000 integrated video. So that one should be a bit better. Defiantly stick with AMD if you want good price and performance. What type's of games do you plain to play on it?

Good bargain PC. The graphics card is pretty decent, and should hold its own with quite a lot of games. I would add an extra few of GB of RAM to be able to handle Win7 and modern games.

Would I get more bang per buck?Hazerd wrote:This, i can help you pick out parts!sabrage wrote:Please, please, please build your own.
Deus Ex 3, Black Ops, Civ 5, Fallout 3, that sort of thing. Mainly stuff that's also on consoles. I just prefer playing on the computer.ATARI800XLfan wrote:What type's of games do you plain to play on it?
I already have an Nvidia Geforce 520 GT, by the way. I don't know how the card bundled with the PC compares.

I could also assist. I suggest AMD parts for good performance on a budget, probably a Athlon II X2 or X3 CPU with a AMD HD 6770 if you can afford it, a 600 Watt power supply should be enough. The card is around 120 and is a decent starting card for a gaming system. anything over 4GB is not really needed.Hazerd wrote:This, i can help you pick out parts!sabrage wrote:Please, please, please build your own.

yes you can and a AMD HD 6770 should be more the enough to play those. Can play skyrim on medium-high setting and still get around 45+ frames.BoringSupreez wrote:Would I get more bang per buck?Hazerd wrote:This, i can help you pick out parts!sabrage wrote:Please, please, please build your own.

I would recommend checking out newegg to compare prices and watch there how to guides. I would recommend a ASUS motherboard. Great quality and good price. 520 GT might be a bit weak for the game you want to play.

You always get more bang per dollar building it yourself. It's so significantly cheaper, it's not even funny. (And there's actual warrantiesBoringSupreez wrote:Would I get more bang per buck?Hazerd wrote:This, i can help you pick out parts!sabrage wrote:Please, please, please build your own.
I can help with parts also. Are you looking for a complete package? As in, the box (and contained parts), monitor, mouse, keyboard, OS? Or just the box (and OS) like the one you're looking at here? (makes a large difference in budget)

If is just box here is one I put together from new egg for 534 that has 4 gigs of ram. HD 6770, AMD Athlon II X2 3.2Ghz. mid tower case with micro motherboard so only 1 PCI express video card. 750 GB hard drive. 620 Watt modular power supply(can take off cables you do not need.)Cronozilla wrote:You always get more bang per dollar building it yourself.
