Well, I'm certainly a little late to the party, but this seems like a fun little challenge, so I'll give it a shot. I'll give me self from now until the end of Summer, which will give me until midnight on September 20th. So, let's get down to this list...

1. Clockwork Knight (Saturn)
2. Jet Set Radio (DC)
3. Sonic Blast (GG)
4. Mischief Makers (N64)
5. Klonoa: Door to Phantomile (PS1)
6. Phantasy Star III: Generations of Doom (GBA)
7. Silent Hill 2 (360)
8. Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages (GB)
9. Batman (NES)
10. Pokémon Colosseum (GC)

I think I'm stretching the definition of "classic" by including a PS2 and Gamecube game, but that's alright, I mean neither has games produced for it any more, so I think it'll still be okay. Anyway, time to get cracking. I may change a title or two on the list depending on time contrasts or if I pick up any new retro stuff that I feel deserves a spot on the list, so wish me luck, because I'm getting started right now.

This game gets trashed a lot but I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. And I know I'm in the extreme minority, but I liked it better than part II.

I played a tiny bit of Golden Sun today. Took a break to read the instruction booklet thoroughly. The game starts with the main character's mother waking him up... lol how cliché.

And I must say this is a gorgeous looking game. I realized today that I don't really know what kind of graphics the GBA is truly capable of because nearly every game I've played on the system is either a port or remake of an older title (Final Fantasy V/VI Advance, Phantasy Star Collection, Breath of Fire, A Link to the Past, Lunar Legend, etc). I need to check out more GBA exclusives.

Knights of the Old Republic - PC
Half-life - PC
Fallout - PC
Heretic - PC
Tomb Raider Chronicles - DC
Ecco the Dolphin Defender of the Future - DC
Rayman 2 - DC
Silent Hill 2 - PS2
Metal Gear Solid 3 - PS2
Final Fantasy 4 - PS1

Silent Hill 2 is complete!

I found the original Silent Hill more interesting to play through, but the story of 2 is better.

As creepy as it can be, it wasn't as scary to me as the first game either. Though Toluca Prison was freaky as hell. There's some monster you can't see stomping around and muttering above one wing of prison cells. It can't do anything to you, but man is it disturbing just being near it.

For those curious, I got the Leave ending, and my final ranking was a 4.9.

I had a blast though, as stressful as horror games can be for me, and I'm thinking I'm going to finally do what I meant to do years ago and finish going through the Silent Hill series. I think I'll be tackling number 3 sometime soon.

As for what's next, I'm not sure yet. I might get back to FF4 finally. I'm also thinking about taking Half-Life and Heretic off the list entirely. I'm realizing that I'm really not in the mood for a shooter at all. I'm open to suggestions for replacing them if anyone cares to mention something.

do you have anything on my list that we could overlap at all?

...

Put another 2 hrs or so into Cthulhu... loving it, though I did hit a huge challenge in the form of the Ape Princess. She was a pretty brutal battle and took me some time (and some grinding) to figure out what to do. My only real complaint is that while you can buy armor and weapons in towns, you can't buy items like potions, etc. These are all found in chests. It makes it a little tougher as I wish I could just stock up when I get to towns. Oh well. That said, I'm still loving the game in general. I think it's really solid. I'm not fighting my way through an alien ship with my newly acquired martian cat party member.

then you're out, until you find some more. I assume this design is to encourage exploration (and maybe kind of force grinding in a more natural way?). Though it may sound more severe than it is -- you do have a healer, and she's been in your party from the beginning of the game basically.

I really think you should keep Half-Life. It's such a touchstone of modern shooters, and it's easily my favorite series of all time. Granted I still have a lot of catching up to do with other stuff I've missed, but I can't really imagine another game or series knocking Half-Life from number 1 in my book.

Its limited unfortunately. I have 5 of the games on your list, and of those I've beaten 4. The remaining one is Castlevania, which you've already finished.

Super Contra is an option that I'd be interested in picking up though. What version are you going to be playing?

Well, I'm still considering it, but like I said I'm really not in the mood for a shooter right now. If I go into it not wanting to play it, I probably won't get far you know?

Removing it from the list now doesn't mean I'll never play it though. Just that it'll be on hold for a bit longer.

I dunno, its up in the air.

Shit, I went too far back when I was looking for your list. That was stupid of me, especially since I knew you were playing GTA. My brain has failed me. Sorry dude.

Edit: What's even dumber is that I looked back again and just noticed that the correct list is a couple of posts down on the same page! D'oh.

Moving on...

Well, that makes it 5 out of 6. Buuuut

I'm totally up for playing Jet Set Radio Future. I'll have to pick up a copy, but that's no big deal.

Bam:

Knights of the Old Republic - PC
Half-life - PC
Fallout - PC
Jet Set Radio Future - Xbox
Tomb Raider Chronicles - DC
Ecco the Dolphin Defender of the Future - DC
Rayman 2 - DC
Silent Hill 2 - PS2
Metal Gear Solid 3 - PS2
Final Fantasy 4 - PS1
