Watching AKB0048, and I find it surprisingly good for what it is.

Also been keeping up with Kids on the Slope. Finished OreImo, excellent. And I will be starting Sankarea soon!

Picked up Fruits Basket and Slayers Revolution at a con. So I guess Slayers Revolution is really just the fourth season of Slayers? Guess I should get that Season 1-3 boxset before I watch this.

Indeed, it looks like it. So yeah I'd watch the others first.

Still need to finish up the first season myself. Looking forward to the others since I hear the stories get a little better and more serious.

The original Slayers is solid, but not spectacular. Slayers Next (season 2) is the peak of the series in my opinion. It's where the story, humor, and cast are the most balanced and effective. I would probably put Slayers Try (season 3) in last place because the story goes off on a nonsensical tangent. Slayers Revolution/Evolution R I'd put third because the plot is still weak and there's one character I loathe, but the humor earlier in the show is really good which helps redeem it.

Hmm, some of my friends said they like Try the most since it was apparently the most serious. But yeah everyone seems to say the sequels improve in general. I just finally forced myself to watch a lot more today so I'm nearing the end here and yeah, it definitely gets better when things are a bit more focused and serious. Wish the whole thing was like this, lol.

Interesting. I've only watched a bit of the first season myself. I have played the Super Famicom RPG though (yes there is an English patch).

IMO Slayers Next is the best and has the best balance of comedy/serious, but I'm a fan of the whole shebang even though it has some flaws. I even have a cel from the first series.
