Cause gamers are usually young and immature which makes them bad losers?
Am I the only one here who feels happy when a bad player friend beats me, and satisfied when I manage to beat a player who is waaaaay better than me, after 10 tries cause of luck on the 11th try?

Winning and losing take a back seat to having fun, in my opinion.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
I can appreciate getting really into a fighter, but when I'm at a party I hear bizarre Smash lingo about animation glitches and complain about the lag on their WaveBirds it grates on everyone. Gamers just want to have fun!

Sometimes I play with a noncompetitive mindset. Randomness adds to the fun, because I want the worst players playing to have a chance at beating the best players.
Sometimes I play with people and everyone is in a competitive mindset. Neither the winner nor the loser is too happy when a match is decided by a random event. We are having fun by trying to see who is more skilled at the game. A random act of the game interferes with having fun in this way.
All we want are options so everyone can have fun in their own way.

The randomness in Smash is not so high that it will regularly cause a worse player to win against a better player. Every so often? Sure. But over a series of games the better player is always clear. The same thing happens in Mario Kart. Sure, sometimes you get screwed by a blue shell right before the end, but over time the better players have more race points than the bad players.
I think the thing that really irks me about people who play competitive Smash is that they're forcing a round peg into a square hole. The game was designed from the ground up as a 4 player party game, not a tournament fighter. If you want a tournament fighter that's completely skill based then you have a huge slew of options.

^I agree with what you're saying. However, I think with a few purposeful changes the series could be both a very good party game and a very good tournament fighter depending on the options people set and how they feel like playing.

I'm almost 100 percent certain that any competitive player will tell you that the competition is having fun.
My friends and I took it pretty seriously back in the Melee days. So yeah, we always turned all items and everything off and pretty much just fought on Final Destination all the time. lol

Capcom developed Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons.
Sega also developed F-Zero GX, which was a totally awesome game even if the story mode was ridiculously difficult.

To be fair, Star Fox never truly recovered from Adventures.
